“I want to look like myself.” It has taken me 40 years to reach this same conclusion. It breaks my heart to think that younger generations will never reach that level of acceptance because refusing their own faces is all they’ve ever been taught. Social media is so dangerous to everyone’s self esteem. It was bad enough before the internet.

The trend I dislike is buccal fat removal. I feel like it is destroying some beautiful faces, and it is permanent. I would never do something to myself that is forever based on the look of the moment. I just subscribed to your channel - it is fantastic!

You got me instantly with the first trend, dissing the "naming everything" trend. Strawberry makeup? it's pink blush.

Naming everything is definitely annoying!
Like I being a dark redhead is "not real redhead" and "ugly, " but girls rush to the salon to get "Cowboy copper" hair, and it's "ThEBeSTreDHAir"
It's the exact same color as mine! You just told me that I look like a mop with it, but since tiktok gave it a cute trend name it is to die for
*sigh*

Honestly I don’t want viral products, I want good products. Viral is just a fad and people are wasting their money on those products. What shows a great YouTube channel is that they don’t follow TikTok mess or influencer marketing, because it’s for children. I follow people who just find products that are really well made and worth buying.

As someone who has oily skin, I don’t get the wet skin look. I go out of my way to avoid looking like I have wet skin

Co-signing on so many of these!! I feel like Black Friday gets longer and longer every year lol it used to be ONE day of good sales and it has now morphed into 2+ months of mediocre 15% off discounts

I love how you said you miss seeing the uniqueness because that’s the exact same thing I miss everybody is morphing into the same person and it’s so refreshing to see someone call it out. Thank you.💯

Lip oils remind me of those super cheap "glosses" you used to get in the early 2000s in packs of like, 5. They were clear roller balls and had little cartoon fruits on them. They were just atrocious, wet, and cheap haha

As a black women with pretty big lips and was made fun of as a kid and would suck my lips in to make them smaller, when the "plump lips" became a trend I was all kinds of confused because on me big lips look crazy but if you paid for your big lips with was on trend. But, I mean it was done with things like braids, wigs, being curvy and so on.

i have had bushy eyebrow since I was 5; I was born in 1973. I went through my 20's sometimes plucking my eyebrows (1990s). My Mom suggested that I don't. Not a day went by that someone either on the street or the hair salon wanted to wax my brows. My thicker brows suit my face. Yes, dont follow trends if they dont suit you and stick to your self if Everyday someone tells you do this. I am beautiful.

This is the first video of yours I have seen, and I just want to thank you for being so refreshing! I couldn't agree more. Trends can be fun, but not at the expense of anyone's self-esteem.

Slay queen. No filler needed, your lips look perfect. Since when are thin lips not attractive? I personally believe that lips without fillers are so much more expressive and show the personality and emotions so well, Da Vinci would agree. Make thin lips trendy again!

Finally, someone who actually dislikes long pointy fake nails!! I hate how influencers in videos insist on tapping objects with them and gesturing with their hands to draw attention to their claws lol

I love that you said "I just want to look like myself."! It's very refreshing to hear a content creator say that & you are definitely the first one that I've heard say that. Thank you for the wonderful content in this video! Look forward to seeing more content from your channel. ❤

I love this talk! Everything you said from trends to filler to long nails has been on my mind. I’ve realized that I’ve become accustomed to social media beauty standards & I slowly started to dislike my own features. I recently found a YouTuber that matches my features (fine mousy brown hair, fair neutral skin, small lips etc) and after watching her for a while I started to appreciate those features in myself again. Wild right?

I totally agree with the overly dewy/borderline greasy complexion. I have dry skin, and I much prefer using skin care to moisturize and hydrate my skin then using a natural finish foundation that dries down on its own. My skin still looks healthy but not greasy and I don’t have to worry about powdering it since powder always dries out my skin.

1000% agree about filler. Scary part? There’s a group of people on Reddit who DIY filler….

A side note though, you’ve quickly become one of my favorite beauty creators. I love your honesty and how down to earth you are 😊

ok but the thing that drove me up the wall with blueberry nails is that blueberries aren't even that colour!!! I agree with most of these. Tiktok has done... interesting things for the beauty industry.

Shocked that huge bushy lash extensions weren’t mentioned. They give people this uncanny dead beady eye look and totally throw off facial harmony. They’re like the 2016 blocky eyebrows of the 2020’s and I swear people who get them are lowkey addicted the same way people who get filler get addicted- like they develop dysmorphia and keep getting them bigger.
