Let me know in the comments, what are some beauty trends YOU want to see disappear?

I had a nose job in 2007, and my surgeon wanted my immediate family to show up the day before so he could look at their noses to get a better idea. He wanted me to still resemble my family. I loved that he did that because it showed he was looking for the most natural results. My nose did change me, but in a way that was very natural and still looked like my siblings. I was bullied for my nose, so I was worried that my bullies would notice that I had a nose job. To address this, my surgeon suggested a huge hair color change to distract people from my nose. That was the best idea ever because people really couldn’t pinpoint what was different. I told them it must be my hair. His idea really worked, and I’m forever grateful for him. Unfortunately, he passed away from COVID. I was devastated. He was one of the best cosmetic surgeons, always aiming for natural results. He took my concerns about my bullies to heart and looked for ways to help distract them from my nose. I thought that was amazing.

No one needs to delete Instagram. You just need to fill your feed with cats like I do. Instantly changes anxiety to inner peace. 😽😸😺

Another beauty trend I'm sick of is celebrity beauty brand. Kylie Jenner or Hailey Bieber aren't going to convince me to use their products just because their famous.

My petty one is "edgy" or deliberately provocative names. I'm so tired of companies using ~sex~ in shade names and product names. It's not clever any more. It hasn't been for a lot of years and it just gives me the same vibes of those "wine o'clock" and "wine mom" humour.

I'm off Instagram for many reasons, but the feeling of total disconnect with the trends and the obsession with flawlessness is one of them. I've always struggled with body dysmorphia and I can't take it anymore. Nobody looks like a real person anymore.

You hit it just right!!! Everyone looks the same with their big teeth, eyelashes, eyebrows and lets not forget LIPS ... Lip fillers make everyone look the same. No one has anything unique about them anymore.

The concept of a "plastic surgery trend" is very dystopian. Plastic surgery is a genuine medical practice and I'm not pretending it isn't, but making different plastic surgeries "trendy" is the end stage of unrealistic beauty standards. Especially with permanent procedures, as you mentioned, once that trend is over, the people who got the surgery WILL regret it. It is just another unending cycle that only exists to make us hate ourselves and our bodies.

OMG HOW I HATE ARTIFICIAL SWATCHES!! Especially from the luxury brands. They have all the capital to afford real swatches yet they don’t. I’ve returned so many products over the years that look nothing like their artificial swatches

The other thing that bothers me about "pH adjusting" products is that there isn't that big of a range of pH in human skin! Nor should there be! If your skin is healthy the pH is going to be ~5. So it really can never look different for your "unique pH" because your pH isn't unique.

The beauty trend I want to die is warm-toned makeup as the default! I’m very fair and cool toned (blue-based) and I can’t do bronzer or any warmth at all. Pretty much all bronzers and brown eyeshadows that are called cool toned or neutral are straight up orange on me. Down with the fake cool tones and the horrible shade descriptions!

When I was a kid they used to tell us that our flaws made us unique and beautiful. It’s been sad to see the change.

I ended up having to lose all my natural teeth due to serious health problems. After a decade of slowly losing one after another and being in constant pain, things got worse. I broke three off at the gums in one weekend. Found a specialist dental team who removed what was left of my natural teeth. Through a two year process, we used implants inserted into my jawbone to replace them all. We used pictures of me as a child, then an adult and had long discussions about the final products. I have my little front space and a natural shape and color. And I can EAT WITHOUT PAIN! 🦷

I'm sick of women overlining their lips and losing their cupid bows. Cupid bows are so cute.

The trend of young women getting filler, botox, and other tweakments, if you will, scare me tbh. The fact that filler doesn't really fully go away and it just migrates freaks me out. I do not know if having filler in you body over time can cause any serious health issues but I do feel like it's cause for concern when women are being told that their body metabolizes the filler after some months. I'm not saying that all filler or botox usage is awful but when young women are being encouraged to use it for cosmetic purposes it just doesnt seem like a great idea imo.

If buccal fat removal had been a trend when I was in my 20s, I probably would have seriously considered it. But now that I'm in my 40s, I'm so so glad that I didn't do something like that! My rounder, fuller cheeks keep me way more youthful looking now. That's a trend that I think some people will really regret later on.

I HATE false eyelashes. Finally, someone I can get on board with.

The duck lips on IG is so ridiculous… everyone looks the same… 10” waists, 3 foot legs, no cellulite, same skin tones, eye colors….. you name it.😮

I was a teenager in the 70s. In spite of the fact that people always think of disco, the more common fashion was the natural look. For us, false lashes was an old lady thing, and I’ve never liked it. People can do what they want, but it still just looks ridiculous

As a judgemental gen x, I was pretty annoyed to see this suggestion on my page….another young person encouraging kdash beauty. I finally clicked to watch……..Was I wrong. Not only was I pleasantly surprised but also very impressed. Intelligent and well spoken. Informative and encourages natural beauty. Finally, a group of women not drinking the kool-aid. I will share this my daughter…. I hope women like you and your followers take over the influencer world.
