Doing the AM RF, and the FM IF alignments. Nordmende Super 250-9 rest. pt. 6

Before the power transformer went out on this radio, I was about to do the RF alignment for the AM bands. That had to go on hold for a while, but it's unavoidable, so here goes ...
The FM is quite good on this radio, but the IF definitely needs adjusting. However, the method that the instructions seem to point to is slightly different to what we're used to, so I'm anxious to try it out. Hopefully we'll all see something new.
Enjoy.

I don’t think alignments are boring at all. It’s actually my favorite thing of a restoration.

Manuel I think your documentation of the alignment of various set your work on gives a wealth of technical data for future techs and hobbyists working on these sets. Particularly utilizing schematics and alignment instructions as laid out by the manufacturer but showing the actual coils and capacitors locations. I'm Impressed on how well organized your test bench layout works with your home brew switch boxes etc. PS. I see the MF sticks have made it down under.

Wow, that chassis looks like it's a dream to adjust. Very easily accessible cores and no need to constantly switch between the top side and underneath the chassis. Wonderful.

Yeah, the Reihenfolge is the order. It makes sense because when I build ham radio antenna for multiple bands (fan dipole) They always told us to tune it to be resonant on the highest frequency first and then to proceed to lower bands.

Electronics old and new you are good at electronics restoration on vintage shortwave receivers

Adjusting IF transformers for peaks will give you a reduced audio bandwidth, particularly on FM. They are designed to be bandpass filters and should be aligned with a wobbulator so you can see the bandpass shape you are getting.

That's what I was thinking, someone was messing around in there. :)

I texted you about my Grundig Satellit 2100 going intermittent on the MW....SW2 after it had been on for 5 minutes. The fault was with the T11 oscillator transistor BF240. Should you ever need to replace T11 on any future 2100 radios, the MW....SW2 frequency dial doesn't need to be removed, but it does for T10 and T12. What I found was a slight resistance between the collector and the emitter of T11 after it was removed. I've tested it with a 2N3904, which I had and now waiting for a BF240 to arrive on Friday.

Hello,
I would like to ask a favor, regarding the following question: in the IF FM alignment, would it be possible to use two signal generators, one doing sweeping and the other at the frequency of 10.7Mhz? Would the oscilloscope show the marker (pip) on the sweep curve? My thanks in advance.

Looks great. Come wintertime I'll try to get my Nordmende sorted. But compared to like a Telefunken I did, the Nordmende's are a bit messy... Curious how your Mende sounds and performs now :)

I wonder, given that this is the first FM frontend that I see using a single pentode (EF85), why the standard became 2 triodes (ECC85 or rarely 2xEC92). The schematic seems to be much simpler with just EF85...

That's now a healthy radio isn't it? If so, your favourite bit is next, the cosmetics!

Does it matter that you did B bevor A and D bevor C and why not do A, B and A again for its maximum bevor continuing with C, D and back to C again and so on?
