I have heard there is a saying in Australia and it goes like this, "if you want to go into the outback, you take a Land Rover but if you want to make it back you take a Land Cruiser". :-)

My 2007 FJ Cruiser is still humming along with 773, 000 km - about 480, 000 miles - on it. Best vehicle ever!

My 100 series just hit 315, 000 miles! Always brings a smile to my face when I see the odometer :)

350, 000 miles on my 2000 LC and I’m amazed every day how quiet, smooth and tight this machine still is after 20 years. This daily driver is bulletproof!

I had a 2003 4runner with 475k miles on it and I finally donated it even though the engine and transmission ran smoothly.

I had a 94 with 315K on it, loved that car! I now have a 2010 LX 570 and that has 110k runs like new. Once you have owned a LC (or the Lexus equivalent) you get spoiled and can't go back!

The 2UZ is so smooth to an annoying degree. I have a 99 LX470 and I love it way more than any 21 year old/200k mile truck should be loved. The 100 series is so good. I’m going to eventually get my wife a 200 series to haul the kids in. It’s perfection.

Just sold a 1995 Land cruiser that we bought new and drove it for 275, 000 miles. What a great car. So we upgraded to a 2000 LC that has only 93, 000 miles on it (what a lucky find).
Drives like a new car.
No doubt, Land cruisers are the best cars ever made.

Good video. Pretty typical for LCs to get such high mileage. I have owned 10 LCs since 1996 and my family still drives five of them today. My '99 LC just rolled over 400k miles this week. Another has 475k miles. The least of the five is the '06 with 268k miles. All are bombproof and keep on a rollin. Regarding the maintenance of these beasts, you mention timing belt and bearings. The TB work is recommended for like 90k miles but can certainly go much farther. I suggest paying more attention to that with the 2005 and newer models since they are interference engines but I don't worry about it with the 1998 to 2004 near as much. I have over 200k on two of my hundys TB and will do the work when I need to. The timing belt never just breaks. The water pump might go out eventually but I have replacee only one water pump in 24 years that actually went out. Regarding the bearings, there is no need at all to change or do anything to them until they go out, if ever. I have replaced or serviced one side on my daughters 2000 LC with 345k miles. Runs great and doesn't need new bearings. Maintenance is a good thing for parts of these vehicles but unless you are OCD, you can save a lot of money not wasting it on unnecessary maintenance. Believe me, I know. These vehicles are definetly built on a separate assembly line for a reason...to traverse the world and back on in sand and on third world trashy fuel.

I'm at 257, 982 and she runs like a champ, it's my daily driver (190 miles a day 6 days a week) the pinion leaks from a accident but besides that no leaks

That mileage is easy for LC. Every single Land Rover, Range Rover, Merc or X5 dont last half what LC does.
If you are wealthy and money is no issue, go ahead, buy those. If you value your money, there is no substitute for LC in terms of durability and retail value. RR and X5 are probably the worst money pits on the market.

I've had my '02 Sequoia for two years. It's at 310, 000 miles and it's condition mirrors your experience. A little reconditioning, maintenance reset, and it's good to go!

I love my 2000 LX470. Steering rack is leaking but topping of every few months is cheaper than fixing it. Mine is 3x locked and lifted. Great offroad and in the snow.

Had a 1991 Land Cruiser, sold it at 294, 000 miles, it was in great condition and everything worked. I now own a 2006 LX 470 (Land Cruiser) with 165, 000 and it runs and drives like new.
