Requesting the battery level every 15 minutes is a great way to discharge the battery. 😂 Thanks, jeffb!

I am stunned how deep you are integrating with such data collectors like Amazon.

Make sure not to touch the edges between + and - of the coin cell as you do in your video.
The grease you will leave from your finger tips will dramatically increase leak current.
Well "dramatically" compared to the nominal idle power consumption of the device itself.
It can shorten the lifetime of your coin cell by years given the old one lasted 7 years.

Related: this is also why smoke detectors always seem to first start their low battery chirp in the middle of the night.

I find it extremely hard to believe that the temperature in your bedroom gets cold enough to reduce a non-rechargeable battery's capacity by a factor of 5. That usually doesn't start to happen until you are close to freezing, which you are not doing in your bedroom because... well you'd freeze.

A short google shows that a fresh lithium cell would lose 0.5 volts going from 40 degrees C to 0C, that's not really the same as going from 25% to 5%.

I'm guessing that you're looking at a very very dead battery that is just giving up, and the whoe thing will disappear when you replace the battery.

I dont get the point of amazon monitoring the battery devices from the HUE Products. Does Amazon monitor every IOT device? Do they only have some affiliate stuff going on with specifc amazon traders?

Something to consider if you have devices that take several sizes: You can easily 3D print some small adapters (on thingiverse) that enable to to use smaller (2032) batteries in place of the larger ones (2450). Yes, they'll need changing a little more often, but it means you can buy in bulk which is cheaper, and always have one on hand. It also means you can use rechargeable batteries in devices that can handle them, despite most places not making larger rechargeable versions. (Try finding an L2450, for example.)

Now I'm wondering how those buttons work. They appear to go through the PCB?

If the normal battery lasts 7 years then your just be wasting your time on a rechargeable one. It would probably self-discharg in a few months i expect. I had a 3020 that still retained the memory information in a radio after 30 years and the nicads still recharged after being left that long sometimes your surprised that could happen.

I once watched paint drying, and then went into the garden to see how the grass is going, in the mirror my beard looked a little longer, but that could be the light or the angle I was viewing it on. but on close examination of the budgie, I think, yes, thats a new feather, and as you can see, its quite bright compared to the others, and I am sure you can appreciate that, you would expect it as it did not come from amazon who take much longer to supply these feathers, unlike the norwegian blue who only look like it is sleeping when you put it in the fridge, or turn the heating off at night.
OR just spend the 50 cents and forget this most incredibly boring tale of a cold and unloved battery and get on with your life, its up to you.
Live, or listen to this shite
the rumour is that click bait attracts ugly fish, but thats a topic for another day.
