City Of Troy disappoints as SIERRA LEONE claims 2024 Breeders' Cup Classic crown!

There was to be no dream victory for City Of Troy in the Breeders' Cup Classic as Sierra Leone grabbed victory for Chad Brown and Flavien Prat.

Slowly away from the stall, Ryan Moore had to get to work on City Of Troy early and the pace of the race left Aidan O'Brien's star with a mountain to climb.

Fierceness, who went off favourite in the US, came home second, with Japan's Forever Young in third. City Of Troy could only finish eighth.

Fierceness ran a hell of a race for second. To be that close to the fast early pace and still held well to deep stretch.

Madness that a horse that has never raced on the dirt went off fav against some of the best dirt horses in the world

Who saw City of Troy flopping on dirt coming? Oh wait, most of us did

I can't believe that they didn't bring him over earlier to race on dirt. There was a pundit in the UK that analyzed COT's huge stride and said that COT would not handle the dirt.

Fierceness ran great to finish 2nd after that scorching pace. He proved his doubters wrong.

Of course the comments are 99% hate and I told you so's, but they dared to dream with him. How many other trainers are out there ducking the best races, never leave the country, never mind the continent. They had a top horse and they took a risk that either made them look like geniuses or fools and racing needs more of that. City of Troy already cemented his legacy at home and has nothing to prove on turf or at the highest level in Europe, that's why they did this.

Excellent video but Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. Building wealth involves developing good habits regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future.., I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life!!

How can anyone say City lost it at the start, Sierra had the same start both at the back of the field, Sierra had a jaguar run on the back straight and stayed on best, same owners of City and Sierra. Anti Post betting showed City not the biz. Was 2/1 3 weeks ago, then came into 13/8 AND in the week pre race drifted to 5/2, alarm bells yes !. I didn't have a bet, lucky boy.

The hype and bull s**t about City of Troy was ridiculous. The Racing Post should take a good look at itself, the way they lauded him after the trip to Southwell I thought he had already won the Classic . The first three home today are top top horses.

The Three Year Olds Ran 1-2-3. This Was A Very Good Consistent Group This Year. Cannot Remember If 3 Horses Who Ran In The Kentucky Derby Ran 1-2-3 In The Classic

If I hear once more from the racing tv/media coverage this horse mentioned in the same breath as Frankel my head is going to explode.

Great job and still a champion. It’s a bit hard beating American horses on dirt. American horses doesn’t do great on turf in Europe. It’s still great to try.

I must say, I did root for CoT sometimes. I’m no horseman, so I’m obviously not basing my opinions on facts. But after i heard this was CoT’s last race, I wanted him to go out with a bang.

Also: Sierra Leone has and will always be my favorite of this lot. He caught my eye when I was watching the KD prep races, though I must admit my faith in him was shaken in the races between the BCC and KD.

Fierceness has surprised me. Over a short distance, he is clearly better than SL. However, the pace here was insane. It would have worn him down. Yet he still managed to fight Sierra in the stretch. Tough horse.

And stop hating on the CoT supporters. “I told you so” is a very strange expression. You can have your own opinion. They had theirs. You may think it was impractical, and seeing the results of this race, perhaps it was. But if CoT had won, they would be saying the same to you. I say this not out of bitterness for his loss, as often I am wrong about the end results of a race and I accept that. So, please, don’t rub it in their faces. I’m not saying that all of you did, but a select few in the comments were gloating. And I hate that.
