In this video I discuss the continuing decline in value of the Russian Ruble which has fallen at an accelerating rate over the past 7 days. China is Russia's biggest trading partner for both Imports and Exports but is only prepared to make a receive payments in Chinese Yuan and the payments are now being impacted by the threat of Secondary Sanctions which has resulted in a Liquidity Crisis in Russia as well as a huge increase in costs for Russian businesses and consumers and this is now driving up Inflation and Interest Rates.

The rouble is o longer a world currency, it is an 'in-house scrip', managed by the Bank of Russia and useful for limited commodities.

Too hell with GDP. 9% inflation, 19% interest rates and a rapidly falling currency means the Russian economy is doing well in the same way my bed ridden 95 year old mother with advanced dementia is a picture of health.

Thanks as always Joe. Further to your "news", according to a Times Radio article this morning, the Russian police force is down by a third, due to officers being attracted by the higher wages offered by the army and defense contractors/manufactures. This in turn is leading to more crime in the community. I appears to me that the downward spiral is well and truly happening and will only get faster. Very interesting to watch (from a safe distance)

Great program as usual. I think that the 100 rubles to the dollar is an interesting tripwire. The Russians always seem to do something drastic when this milestone is hit. I think we will know when the vaults are finally empty at the Bank of Russia when it does not pull out all the stops to reverse the fall. The end will be nigh then.
