If you're experiencing an error message when you preview your report it could be due to a bug in SSRS 2008 R2 when using shared datasets to populate subreports. See this page for more information:

That definitely worked! Using a NOT Parameter was something I did not take into consideration! Thanks a whole bunch.

Aha, that explains every thing, I didn't noticed that you're working on a server side report. Well, I'm working on a client side report using the ReportVeiwer, I added the Filter from the Tablix properties (you did it from the dataset properties) but that compromised writing a function to handle the adding of the dataset. Thank you, great video.

Thank you for the video.  How would you hide the header row of Film Name, Release Date, and Run Time if one of the countries had no films?  I don't want the header to show if there is no data for that country.

First, thank you for such great video tutorials that are concise, well-paced, well-spoken, professional and very easy to watch and follow. Coming from Access into SQL, these videos removed any intimidation I had about SQL.

I do have a question on subreports in the main report. I can't get the main report header to keep together with the subreport headers and details? I'm sure you have a video for that, but I can't seem to find the topic.

Thanks again for all your help!

Hi,
do you know how improve the performance in this example?, with this implementation it should  execute N time the dataset into the sub report by each row into the dataset in you master report.

Thank you for the video! Is it possible to have 2 sub reports one on top of the other and with an IIF expression display the appropriate sub report? Thanks!

Very, very helpful! This made subreports very easy to understand.

I do have one question though. Is there a way to decently indent for the subreport? I have a report with 4 columns and I want to indent slightly for the subreport (has 7 columns).

Hi, Thanks very much for the videos, they are excellent. I have a question, I have created a report with a sub report in SQL2012 and that works just fine. For another situation I am creating a report and a sub report in SQL2008R2 on a completely different machine. As far as I can tell I have done everything the same way, but I cannot get the sub report to provide data. It keeps telling me to check a log file. Where can I access the log file that may give me some clue as to why the sub report won't load data.

Thanks for the great video. I have a question though; The Dataset Properties window does not have Filters page, it has one page only; General. Hence, I can't add any filters to the subreport, I'm using VS2010 SP1, What am I missing? thanks

In this video, part 19 @ 6:47, the values you are selecting are fields from the first "Country" dataset, correct?
