Pressure Treating Timber

Watch how we treat softwood timber in our high pressure treatment tank.

Firstly the timber is loaded into a long cylindrical tank. This is followed by having all of the air removed to create a vacuum. This causes the pours of the timber to open up.

The tank is then flooded with the treatment solution and 12 bars of pressure is applied. The result of the vacuum process in the previous step and pressure being applied causes the solution to be pushed into the timber.

The solution is then drained from the tank, and the timber goes through a final vacuum just to remove any excess solution which has not been absorbed by the timber.

It is important to remember that the treatment process doesn’t place treatment into the centre of the wood, so if you are going to be cutting, notching, sanding etc. that you remember to retreat the exposed surface with end grain preservative such as endcoat.
