Do Falling Water Levels Affect Catfishing

If you are fishing for catfish from the bank in lakes or rivers, falling water levels can affect catfishing. This can affect anglers fishing for catfish from a boat and catfish fishermen fishing for catfish from the bank. Catfishing when water levels are falling can present some issues for fishermen, and it can make it hard to find biting catfish. In this catfishing video I discuss some of the pitfalls of fishing for catfish during dropping water levels and what I do to find biting catfish in these conditions.

Remember when i told you they let norris down they drop it a good 15 to 20 ft below full pool and they raise it a couple feet above full pool part of summer. One hole i fish that navionics says is about 20ft. Was completely dry this winter

High water or low, clear or muddy....it doesn't matter for cats. Drop it into the deepest spot you can (from shore)...find a ledge or weeds and you will find cats.

You cant make them eat though. Thats up to them.

I like chicken up here on Truman lake in MO. Plain or red. I like to use breast and cut it lengthwise with the grain. It seems to stay on the hook pretty good and you can always cut it smaller that way if that's what they want. I like ugly sticks. Great videos

Good stuff. I know your right water levels do make a difference. I'm now big on chicken now. I use liver closer at night. Simple things work. Brought in 4 nice cats last night for a fish fry

I hit one of the local dammed lakes one time when they dropped the levels down, the water was about 300 ft from the boat ramps but we were determined to get our small boat in and we we did find an access point . After that we hit our favorite feeder stream witch still had some depth to it and we ended up having one whopper of a day. 10 lb cats and big slab crappies it was great.

A little tougher for us river bank anglers. Have you studied low water levels due to drought? One of my favorite stretches of river is normally 60'-80' wide. I can now walk across the river without getting my feet wet. Grass growing in the river bed. I've heard some lakes are down 3-4 feet.

I think it would affect the catfish bite because if the cats are usually deep, then once the sun warms the water up and the water starts to evaporate then the water gets shallower and the cats might start to not bite as good as they usually would
