Palpatine: Ironic. Master Windu could use Shatterpoint to look into the flaws and weaknesses of everyone around him, but not himself.

To me "Such rituals" infers him speaking specifically about the rituals to cast spells tho. If he had said "The Jedi don't need rituals" it would be one thing, but the such makes me think Sidious was just angry about how without Vader's help Windu would have likely killed him.

I don't know if it was on this channel or another one, but I've heard people say that Mace Windu was the perfect representation of the Jedi of the Republic. He wanted all the other Jedi to uphold the code, but he felt like he could break it for whatever reason. IMO, he was such a staunch advocate for the code because it was one of the things that kept him from falling to the Darkside, and he knew it. If I was putting it in DnD terms, he'd be more lawful neutral instead of lawful good.

He said “such” rituals. It is the type of ritual Windu was speaking about. It was the magic type rituals of the out side of self as opposed to inside of self. The Jedi purify the self while the Sith corrupt it. One gains their power and strength from within the other from with out. So “such” rituals are the rituals were supposed power is gained from with out that Mace Windu speaks of. If Sidious hates and disdains something that is a Sith form of respect.

Honestly, I view Mace Windu and Palpatine as mirror images of each other. Which makes sense, as Mace Windu was written as a kind of narrative parallel to Sidious. His fall was the fall of the Order, and was brought about by his arrogance and surety that his side was infallible. Very similar to the fall of Palpatine and the Sith in Episode VI.

Did he say “the Jedi didn’t need SUCH rituals” or that “the Jedi didn’t need rituals”? Those are 2 completely different statements that would change the narrative of the video in my opinion.

Several points about your clear misreading of Windu’s character: 1) Windu did NOT write “The Jedi have no need of rituals.” He actually said about *specifically* Sith spellcasting rituals: “The Jedi have no need for SUCH rituals.” In other words, Windu is ACTUALLY saying, “Though we Jedi do value ritual in our reverence of the Force, history, and the Order’s tradition’s, we do NOT need rituals for casting dark-side SPELLS.” You didn’t pay enough attn to the actual diction or semantics of what he wrote. 2) You said Windu was “unprepared” to face Darth Sidious. Need I remind you that WINDU ACTUALLY HAD DEFEATED SIDIOUS? It was ANAKIN Windu had not paid enough attention to, and thus didn’t anticipate his treason.

I believe Windu is talking about "unnatural" rituals, rituals that bend, break or distort the flow of the Force. Jedi hold ritus that is common for all sentient life. To be born, to reach maturity, to grow old and to die–it's all a part of life and thus feeds the well springs of the Living Force and Cosmic Force. This is natural and it flows with the Force, and Jedi acknowledge this and pass it on to the next generation.

The part about not wanting to train Anakin, there’s more to it. In episode I, all the Jedi masters saw the darkness in him. That’s why they didn’t want him trained. They sensed corruption, he was unstable in his emotions. It wasn’t that Mace was ignorant.

By this point in history the Jedi had become an institution of the Galactic Republic and were no longer the independent order of religious monks that they had been for eons. Mace Windu is a living embodiment of this progression of the Jedi and their inevitable downfall because of it, being a servant of the Republic first and a Jedi second.

From the Revenge of the Sith novelization:
"Because Mace, too, has an attachment. Mace has a secret love. Mace Windu loves the Republic. Many of his students quote him to students of their own: Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. For Mace Windu, for all his life, for all the lives of a thousand years of Jedi before him, true civilization has had only one true name: the Republic."

“Such rituals” doesn’t mean *any* rituals.

Edit: sidious isn’t ever unarmed. We literally see him try to continue killing mace after he loses his saber.

Many of these were really not that hypocritical. Anakin did indeed turn out to go very badly. So did dooku. Mace beat sidious, so he was not at all overprepared, but also not that underprepard either. It was anakin that messed that decision up.

I feel like this, whole thing is being taken out of contacts.
He is talking about ritual magic. Not the traditions of the jedi. This is like saying because you poach eggs, you should go to jail. Poaching is poaching whether it's an egg or a rhino.

Besides what that “such” person said. Mace windy was not incorrect to kill Sideous, siths are never unarmed

The rituals that the Jedi use are ceremonial, not something done in order to achieve some goal, so Windu was correct, Sidious was completely wrong on this.

Could the aura of grand failure yoda's failures be so large it blocked the vision of all the competent jedi in the room? Would explain a lot.

He said "Such rituals" hence those types of rituals not all rituals.

Its very obvious you have a bias against Mace Windu! It doesn't really matter what An Arrogant Dark Lord like Sidious felt about Windu because he was bested in battle by him. We all know his feelings about Anakin was right the boy was lusting for power and his EGO was out of control. Every negative point you make about Windu is invalid. You sound like a Sith Apprentice.

This a Windu Bashing video huh...I guess if you wanna make Anakin not guilty for turning to Dark side and excuse him for the astrosities of millions???
Just blame Master Windu.

I understand that Windu had SEVERAL opportunities to end the Sith single handed but because of how ignorant he was, he couldn’t see the truth. I also believe he wasn’t meant too cause the Force had to get back into balance before good could overcome. On the same token, Clone Wars showed us that he wasn’t the only one that failed the Jedi. Shaak-Ti with her immense knowledge couldn’t see that Palps was evil and when she had the info on the clones having the Order 66 chip, she failed to really fight to have that looked into. Even failed to see that Anakin was the threat in the Temple Massacre. Obi-Wan with training Anakin from the very beginning and Yoda failing to see the deceit. There were a lot of Jedi that failed the Order, yes Windu was one of them, but that doesn’t make him a dumb character or and idiot.
