Kalki 2898 AD Movie Review - Kalki 2898 AD is a new epic sci-fi Indian film. It takes some clear inspiration from Star Wars and Mad Max while infusing its own culture and lore into the story. This has a big scale and a great cast of characters. I give you my spoiler-free thoughts on the film and why it might be worth checking out!

But unlike rebel moon this movie's plot is connected to actual Mahabharata (a 200 thousand verse poem in Hinduism). So it's far more exciting for those that can understand the references. So do yourselves a favor and watch a 5-10 minute videos of what Mahabharat is before watching this movie.

Nice review, just want to clarify on that guy who lifted 6ppl, is actually a person who lived for past 5k+ years and was insanely powerfull even to the standards of those times. So for us it was, from India, it's quite acceptable that he thrashed those ppl easly.

Let me first say, this is one of your best Indian movie reviews. I had watched a couple previously including RRR but I always felt that you were kind of being forced to talk about them because some paying members asked you to. This one is completely natural and you seem yourself. So kudos for that. Lol.

I agree. The de-aging vfx was not good at all. It looked like a video game character whenever he spoke and the eyes were ridiculously large looking like a cartoon. They really should have gone with red chillies (Indian vfx company) for that part instead of DNEG.

Kalki 2898 AD is the pride of Indian Cinema and Telugu Cinema. One word review: MINDBLOWING.
Do not miss it at any cost.
I hope Kalki surpasses every Indian movie produced so far including RRR, Dangal, Jawan, Pathaan, Baahubali 2, KGF 2, Animal and becomes the most successful Indian film without inflating box office collections. Absolutely mindblowing except some unnecessary cringe masala and cringe comedy with Bhairava in the first half. Kamal Haasan part is pure horror. The way they have imagined landscapes, environments, weapons, vehicles, powers, Mahabharata scenes is truly exceptional and spectacular. My one suggestion to Nag Ashwin is to explore the Complex society and the outside world more in depth because on the surface it looks like everyone is doing well enough even though they are starving for food, water, clean oxygen and they have just stuck some neon signs randomly on Indian alleyways and streets because that's how cyberpunk movies do it. Anyone who says it is merely a copy of Star Wars, Dune, Mad Max, MCU deserve to drink Kali's tears lol. Excited for Kalki 2 more than I ever was for Brahmastra 2. Prabhas and Deepika Padukone are good but Amitabh Bachchan is the MVP. Wow. Disha Patani's part is simply waste. Roxxie could have still been used to show Bhairava the luxuries and abundance of the Complex without that cringe song. Also, unnecessary writing mistakes like superhuman Ashwatthama suddenly not being able to lift Sumathi up should not happen. I wish they would give Shree Krishna better look. No yellow angavastram or armor or jewels or mukut. Just a white cloth and a head band makes him look like a Greek hero. Personally I would have loved to see Shree Krishna blue instead of fair-skinned or dark-skinned because that's how we all grew up watching him in all images.

Deserves to be watched atleast twice.

PS. For non-Indians and Karna (son of Sun God Surya) fans watching this, Karna was not more powerful than Arjuna. Karna is an antagonist and an adharmi in the Mahabharata who was jealous of Arjuna and committed many evil deeds and suffered for his karma and choosing the wrong side against the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shree Krishna. Period. But he is not a cheeranjeevi (immortal) like Ashwatthama. How has he reborn or reincarnated remains to be seen. Note that according to some, Karna pushing Arjuna's chariot back is a fake story and Ashwatthama surrendered the mani himself.

Not to offend people from US and other countries. Star wars, Lord of the rings Trilogy, Dune are not the original scripts or stories. These movies are based off of books written by people who read other religious scriptures. Dune for instance there's no way anyone can deny saying that it's not based on Islam. Likewise star wars and LOTR is based off of Indian mythology. It's really interesting to know that people out there doesn't seem interested to even look at what other religious scriptures say or talk about and just assuming what they see or hear is the never ever unheard and original stories

Just imagine if Mahabharatam or Ramayanam is made on this budget and this scale of modern filmmaking and apt storytelling like completely like around 5-10 complete movies...or back to back seasons...they will completely eclipse Marvel and DC cinematic universe, Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and Harry Potter and Indiana Jones will be put aside and Mahabharatam and Ramayanam will praised and accepted wholeheartedly across the world...especially the western audience will satisfyingly this consume this colossal amount of true events from our ancient history of Bharat Desham!!!

Kalki who is yet to born in the movie, let me tell a bit about him. He is regereed to as the 10 th incarnation of Vishnu, and is prophesied to born in by the end of Kalyug, by the time darkness and negativity will take over the World. 7 Saptarishis or Great Sages will wait for his arrival including Ashwasthhama, the role played here in the movie by Amitabh Bachchan. He is actually a character from Mahabharata and he was cursed by Krishna (8th Avatar of Vishnu) to remain immortal and protect the mother of Kalki in Kalyug (which he is seen doing in the movie).

The movie was crazy ! I went to a Wednesday IMAX premier show ! Loved it so much !!! Climax was good and I love how they mixed Indian History with the Mahabharata into it. I’m young, being 19 I never was really told about these stories nor do I know much about them, but now I really am interested and want to look more into this historical epic written in paper and turned into knowledge as a book. Wonderful review !! Happy you know how our Indian movie elements are and enjoyed it rather than looking too much into the technical aspects. 🙏🏾💯🤟🏽
