I prefer to apply upward pressure using the radial bone, close to the wrist, under the nose to expose the chin. You can also use a cupped hand over the mouth and the index finger pushing up against the nose to create the same desired effect. However, in a street fight/self defense situation, I’d prefer to keep my fingers away from someone’s mouth. Which is why I employ the radial bone for this technique.

You can also center the jaw in your elbow and sqeeze like you would normally. Feels like you jaw is going to rip off.

Good to note that this may result in a forearm chomp if it doesn't happen fast

You can also crossface across the bridge of the nose, figure 4 your arms and cause A LOT of pain
Obviously if your with training partners you're not going to crank it with full force but in real life situation it is very effective and being above the nose less chance to get bitten then going under the nose like demonstrated here

Yeah I had an owner of a gym also a brown belt who’s only method of submission against me (a 2 stripe white belt) was this move and it fucking sucked till I realized tucking the chin wasn’t a defense. Gotta learn the hard way

Edit-matter of fact idk why all gyms don’t start your first day by giving you that tip it would be saving me years of jaw pain😂😂

I try to avoid the cross face with my training partners but need to know that option exists when you really want to put the hurt

Why gable grips. If you use this grip you need to pull the grip back to where your elbow is lined up with his chin. Plus your grip will be behind him and he will have a much harder time grabbing and trying to break the grip.

Just grab their forehead with your other hand and pull their head back and take their neck.

I can’t respect anyone who intentionally covers opponents mouth & nose. It’s a D move.
