State Farm is the new All state. General rule of thumb when choosing an insurance company: If they can afford massive tv adds they aren’t paying off claims.

Insurance companies will do everything in their power to not do the job we're forced to pay them to do.

I had a similar experience in 2012 with Allstate when a big hail storm damaged my roof. Four adjusters said there wasn’t enough damage, only certain shingles were damaged. Thank god the 5th adjuster said “ok if they want to play games, I’ll get you your money for a new roof”. The amount of shingles he counted, plus he said they don’t make those anymore so they would have to be custom made and replaced. They finally gave me enough to replace the roof

State Farm's adjuster said that my garage needed only a roof when a tree fell on it. A local roofer came to give me an estimate and he jumped off the roof as soon as he stood on it. The adjuster was from Texas and had no idea the garage wouldn't hold a Michigan snow load. The garage was pushed off of its foundation. I needed a whole new garage and it took almost a year for State Farm. They're not really like good neighbors.

Insurance companies are there to make money for themselves not to help us when we need

I used to do occupancy verifications for a mortgage company. Every once in a while I'd get sent out to do insurance claims. One guy I went out for had his house burn down and it took his wife with it. Insurance company wouldn't pay out more until the new construction had reached a certain percentage of completion which for that instance was 50%. I knew nothing about construction and he hadn't been able to move past the foundation for over a year. I ended up talking to the contracted and told him to tell me that removing the debris from the old house was half the job. Dudes house was finished like a month later. This guy lost everything he owned and his wife in a few minutes spent almost 2 years fighting with the insurance just to have somewhere to live. These insurance companies are rediculious.

My buddy has been paying homeowners insurance for 37 years. He went to file his first claim EVER, and the insurance company is claiming the address doesn’t exist… again, after 37 years of premiums paid.

American insurance companies seam to have forgotten what they are there for. In Britain the main reason for them is to pay out when they are needed!

I lost my house to State Farm. They refused to cover my roof after a tropical storm in Corpus Christi. Soon, the house had mold, and I had to leave for safety reasons. State Farm will deny most all claims and especially if they believe you don't have the money to fight. Just think of State Farm like Satan... a very bad neighbor. 😮 There are a lot of executives of State Bad that will one day settle in extremely hot climates. 🔥 😅

I feel like it’s all insurance. Health, home, vehicle. Whatever kind of insurance we have, expect to fight for the service of what you’re paying for.

My home is paid for and immediately I canceled my homeowners insurance. I decided to deposit the payments into a separate savings account and over six years later I have saved over $38, 000.00. With $38, 000.00 I can redo my entire roof! Home insurance companies are a scam.

State Farm denied a broken pipe in my slab which caused Feeces to back up in my house. The hole was created in my kitchen floor, through concrete, about 4 feet wide, for State Farm to inspect. They made me keep the whole open for 4 months so they could decide what to do. They ultimately DENIED my claim, I fixed the issues out of pocket and the business I used felt so bad for me they truly helped me with providing free labor if I purchased the items. I had to save money and work two jobs to get enough money to fix my kitchen floors and cabinets and everything. 6 months later, I was sent paperwork telling me “we are expanding your coverage. If this, that or the other happen, you’ll be covered”. The one new coverage item was the same pipe they left me stranded on. I have State Farm. We couldn’t use kitchen, so we couldn’t cook. We couldn’t use laundry stuff. We were limited on flushing the toilet. It just sucked. These insurance companies are scams

My grandmother worked for Allstate. When the “Good Hands People” commercial would come on, she’d run up to the tv and point at the gap between the hands and say “ And that’s where they let you fall through!”

As a roofer i feel like a lawyer i have a desk full of files of claims im fighting. At times half the jobs i get need fighting. Lady had a tree crush her house last summer and they offered to reapir only part of the roof which the city wont even allow! Well i made them cover the whole thing and we are re-decking the whole house now. Just to meet building code. They know building code they just try to see if ill do shoddy work with no permit for a discount. Then i always have to come after them for sales tax, permit fees, accessory items they shorted me on... then i have to pay a guy just to chase items down on the back end for me and hound the insurance companies once a week to please take the next step, release funds, etc. It often takes a fiscal quarter for them to release funds to close projects out. Ive gone hungry after working an entire season just waiting to get paid. Never let that pipeline of jobs dry out is all i can say

I went through this. AAA came out the day after we called them. They inspected the damage and even wrote up more than we initially noticed, no questions asked. Within days they notified us that 100% would be covered and had crews out the next week to make repairs. Efficient, professional, and polite. Best repair experience I ever had as a homeowner.

Insurance companies need congressional oversight. They've been ripping off customers for decades.
