2 would build the granary after the settlers, or all the excess food is wasted. Also you can start expanding later and get up your tile improvements first to have enough happiness
3 Tradition is not always the best but often the easiest
4 tec order should depend on the ressources near your starting location!

I play continents and usually find 1 scout is enough at the start. Also I build only 1 settler if the space is uncontested, but make sure to get one not too late - since the harder AIs somehow know how to piss you off by settling close to you.

Building settlers pauses growth so it's worth skipping the granary until after the settlers

How do you "build a caravan"? I've never seen this option.

Is it worth getting the granary out before settlers? I generally get to 3 population and then settler build unless I got a population ruin.
