I kinda like the idea that the Emperor is becoming as powerful as a Warp god that he can save the souls of his people from the horrors of the warp. But I also kinda like the bitter sweetness of the kinda YOLO life they had, where you are supposed to do your best in your current life, because it's the right thing to do, despite the fact that your soul will be devoured by warp demons when you die.
"The Emperor Protects!" doesn't mean he protects everyone individually, it means he protects humanty. Know that, with your death, Humanity can live just a little bit longer.
