Players evolve in every sport with every generation and the player development has grown exponentially due to technological advancements. Comparing eras is retarded as there’re many variables to consider. If you drop JJ in that era he’d be a good scorer. But if JJ had to grow up in the 50s, and had to a second job and whatnot, he wouldn’t even make it to the league.

I don’t think he attacked his character that’s a stretch, and to his point JJ would be a role player in all era’s😂

JJ is phenomenal as an analyst. He might not be a HOF NBA player but if he keeps going on his current path, he just might get there.

JJ would probably average less points just due to the 3 point line not existing but he probably would have similar career to what he had in our current era

Aye bruh, with all due respect to the logo, I'm taking Sierra Canyon over any team from the 60s without Wilt or Russell

Jerry West is the logo. Every time JJ suited up, he had Jerry west on his chest. Say it with your chest JJ!

Dude there is difference between being great in your era your being great all time. in my opinion if your an insane player in your mailman, plumber era that doesn’t mean that you’ll thrive or even survive another era

Today’s game is less physical still physical just less the guys get smaller and quicker all sports are evolving into this but the weight room remains undefeated

I agree with jerry west on this.I’m if ur going to make fun of an era, talking about other ways for them to make a living to feed their families isn’t the right way to do it.Ik jj doesn’t mean any harm and just having fun.But players of that era wouldn’t take it lightly and shouldn’t.

It's not the people that evolve, it's the equipment that evolves... when it. Give new guys the old shit to wear the numbers are almost exact.. and the logo would school jj redickulously bad

Only player I see realistically thriving in the current era from the 60’s is wilt. The man is literally built different. Give that olympic talent a million dollar diet, million dollar training, and some nikes and you got a star on your hands.

So, his response to the question of which era had better players is a personal attack on Redick's game? That's a non-response. To the actual question: where, in any sport over time have we not seen the quality of training increase, players start at a younger age, better nutrition, more money and energy overall poured in? It's a cliché for older generations to pull the "back in my day..." card. It has literally been going on for recorded history. You're even seeing it from younger retired players like Rasheed Wallace. It's much more of an indication of the nostalgia that older players feel than an actual honest conversation about the evolution of the sport. I really respect the players who can appreciate the progression of the game and not take offense to the fact that the players may be better as time goes on.

It evolve in shooting but lost the post game... the league lost a generational power forward and centers... that is why Jokic and Vucevic are dominating in the paint....

never cared for JJ as an Orlando Magic rookie / player. But I do enjoy his very real analysis. He is doing a terrific job.

JJ was right. Older athletes are just delusional at times. The greats would most probably adjust but you never know...you might have had at least a few Russ type guys who would refuse to change as well.

Older athletes love to think their era was more competitive but they don't realize how much larger and better the talent is overall today.

they talk about physicality and what not but when the rules were changed, many of those guys continued to play and they didn't start scoring 10 more per game. they talk like they did and somehow we believe them.

it's still 5 on 5 but a lot of previous gen 5s would not even make college teams today.
