Yamaha has once again established their premium synthesizer dominance with the launch of the new Montage M series. Available with three keyboard options - 61 & 76 FSX synth actions, or the M8x with its 88 hammer action keys with polyphonic aftertouch, the Montage M6 M7 & M8x instruments feature three sound engines including AN-X, AWM2 and FM-X. Add to this a new VCM Rotary speaker effect, Pure Analog circuit 2 technology to enhance the overall presence of the instrument (especially through a PA system), Extended Softsynth Plugin (E.S.P.), and a massively enhanced user interface with new easy-edit pages and shortcuts, the Yamaha Montage-M series sets the benchmark for pro-level stage & studio keyboards.

Yamaha did a great job un leashing the beast in the Montage, Nice to hear fresh new sounds bringing it to the fore front, however in truth this bad boy will cost ya, and i am sure the Modx is right behind it with a update as this. tech award winner on this !

Still very heavy for gigs. I will stick with stage4, why on earth didnt they include poly after touch on the more portable m6 or m7? M6 or m7 only got mono after touch. 😮

I know they are totally different instruments but can we please get a Montage M8x and Nord Stage 4 HA88 comparison please? Keyboard actions for piano and impact of the GEX PAT for synths. What “connects” the most when Tony is playing?
Thank you!

Very good demonstration of the Montage M sounds, thank you for your contribution and work.

I am a fan of these keyboards and I always observe that in all the demos/reviews of the sound of these keyboards
Without speakers, the quality of the sounds heard is being evaluated, but the chain of intermediate elements used and their quality is never mentioned until the sound is finally heard (quality of the L/R output, quality of the monitors, active or passive monitors, if audio interface is used, if there are subsequent A/D conversions,
if audio interface is used, if amplifier is used, etc.)

What elements are recommended to listen to this Montage M in a home studio?
Thanks you.

Is there an overdrive you can kick in on that organ patch?

It seems like all the demos focus a lot on all the movie production and orchestral presets. I hope there will be an in depth demo of the new VA engine too. Is it as good as my Jupiter-X?

Why would you not also list the the name of the sounds that you are playing . . . Such a missed opportunity . . .\

Many of those sounds you demonstrated are higher quality compared to Halion 7's Factory library which are OK samples. I'm still thinking about what
type of keyboard to buy post 2024 weather to go with my original plan and buy a used Tyros 5, reconsider one of the PSR-SX7 or SX9 arrangers, get
a Montage M6 or push the boat out and get a Genos 2. It makes more sense that Montage M is better for sequencing backing tracks and it would
be fantastic to have in adition to Halion 7 and Kontakt. This is not only an AWM2 rompler but it's also an FM synthesizer capible of loading DX7 sysex
files and it also has AN-X sound engine for analog synth sounds. I wonder what the AWM2 saxophones sound like on Montage M.

Another good video tony one question are the weighted keys quite soft to play i used to have a motif xf and i found them quite hard, i wish poly after touch was on 6&7 not just 88 ? wanted to check before i order !

you know a VA synth can play other sounds not just pads, all demos have just baby sleeping music from the ANX engine
