Matt Johnson performing for his Yamaha Global Stage session "Dramatic Piano" on the new MONTAGE M8x.

Yamaha Synthesizer Artist Matt Johnson has a unique style all his own. He’s the keyboardist for Jamiroquai and an in-demand session player in the London soul scene.

Co-writing over 20 songs for Jamiroquai, including the hits 'Seven Days in Sunny June', 'Runaway' and 'White Knuckle Ride', Matt came up from the London soul scene. During that time he also played on various records for artists such as Duffy, Newton Faulkner, Will Young, Nolwenn Leroy and many others.

Yamaha presents our next-generation flagship Synthesizer: MONTAGE M. Featuring three engines that create a variety of sounds – ultra-realistic instruments, vintage analog synths, and cutting-edge FM synths. For keyboardists, synthesists, and pianists, MONTAGE M seamlessly bridges stage and studio, unlocking new possibilities for sound, control and workflow.

Matt never fails to impress. Anxiously awaiting his feedback on the GEX action.

Went to Jazz Cafe end Sept to see Matt and most of Jamiroquai band members (!), was fantastic as always and wife's birthday so great night!. Although Matt never mentioned this M8x release (😉👍🎹🎹🎵🎶). Have played now at Andertons- GEX keybed with Poly AT is amazing!

The great thing about Yamaha is I can achieve excellent piano sounds like these on a MoXF running a sound engine from the mid '00s. Even when you don't get all their modern flagship bells and whistles you still get their balling sampling. I love Korg but their sounds don't hit like this.

Believe me, I will not buy this model as a stage piano. This is a synthesizer. Show it's capabilities. On the contrary, I am alarmed that you pay so much attention to the sound of the piano...
