The True Engineer Homeworld?

With the recent release of the Paradise and Paradise Lost scripts here on avpgalaxy
we can finally take a look at some of the script items that got cut out and didn't make it into the final versions of Alien Covenant prologue, The Crossing, and the movie Alien Covenant. Were we supposed to see a true engineer homeworld on planet four?

Good timing with this. I just watched Prometheus & Covenant last night for the first time in months.

The Kang Lee concept art interp of the Engineer home world along with the new details you mentioned here (constructed steel ring around the planet and numerous oval ships) would have most definitely given us the awe inspiring reveal of the Engineers home world we were hoping for. The enigmatic oval ship in the opening of Prometheus was conceivably millions of years old. To be able to see many of them in Covenant, having had it's design seemingly remain unchanged for an unfathomable amount of time to human perception hints at the Engineers living much longer than humans and having been at it so long that they perfected interstellar travel very long ago with no longer any need to improve upon their designs.

However, I do like the apparent blending of dwellings made of more natural materials & sophisticated technology blended in that we see glimpses of on LV-223 in Prometheus and on Planet 4 in Covenant. This gives the impression not of primitive conditions to me, but of spiritual awareness and a sense of balance & efficiency. Making them more elemental beings, fond of naturalness without unnecessary bling but with unequivocal genius in their Engineering.

The vision changes between films really hurt, I think. Killing off Shaw like they did, who was the driving heart of the story at the end of Prometheus, was a change of direction that was simply a big swing and miss. Covenant ended up being an ambiguous nightmare.

Had Ridley and a team envisioned two or three films and stayed together to their completion without vision & writing changes, we would have seen a better quality storyline without the mess.

I still like elements of Covenant and what it *hoped* to be.

3:35 Geiger would approve of those phallic buildings.

The few instances where retconning known information is a welcome change, like that being the real Engineer home world

It sounds like a much better film. Maybe that was before the flawed idea to make David the creator of the Aliens. For me it made more sense that the Aliens were discovered by the Engineers, that they worshiped and feared them, that they used them and other bio weapons. This makes more sense and why they had Giger like spacecraft and home world. Scott just got lost in his own confusion, Alien is not Blade Runner!

I still don't understand how David could have wiped out and entire advanced civilisation in one attack on one city? Surely the homeworld planet had many other continents with many other cities filled with people? Would they not have heard about what happened and retaliate or escape? She black goo could not have spread all over the planet at the same time? It just seems like David took over too easily.

I would even go further with how the homeworld of the Engineers would look like. Full Giger inspirered. Whole planet is made by biomaterial like their suits. Abstract and organic looking buildings, the fauna are entirely biomechanical and in someway alive as well. Bloodred sky and a sea of acid? Strange snake-tubes sticking out of the ground and buildings. A truly hellish world.

Man just imagine how cool alien covenant could have been if they went more like the original drafts/scripts. Not saying what we got was bad, just saying it could have truly been a damn epic. Just a really missed opportunity.

I love these videos but at the same time get disappointed by how much better these movies could of been.

So I’ve always thought that the city that David unleashed was just super remote. We could be in Planet 4’s equivalent of Nebraska.

It would have been dumb if David actually killed off the highly advanced engineers and I love that script but that would not happen and the movie's interpretation of it was just as dumb if not dumber and I loved the movie David being a focus at all was a bad idea and I love David's character everything should have been about Shaw

The Engineers are very unique and interesting. They should develop their story. David is not that interesting. More than that, he's annoying. Elizabeth Shaw and the Engineers should've been the central characters

We can only hope someone makes this movie oneday.

The Engineers created man. Man created AI-David. Scott's story is how our hubris will be our undoing and that's what he wants to explore: how we can be our worst enemy. In this social-political climate, I think it's brilliant exploration.

Covenant was shit. It's so obvious that Ridley made it as a screw you to the fans who complained. Ridley should have been able to make the movie he wanted. A movie about the engineers living engineers not dead ones

Should have stuck with the Gieger design, having said that I do like Covenant it's got it's good parts and bad parts.

I assumes the Engineers lived in Sodor Station with Thomas the Tank Engine

Not making a Giger-esque homeworld for the Engineers is a giant missed opportunity. It's frustrating that the massive talent of the filmmakers involved couldn't grasp one of the only facet's of the Alien universe that was absolutely subject to the rule: "if it's not broken don't fix it." I imagine this really boiled down to FOX not wanting to pay HR Giger's estate. I also think Ridley Scott should 've just bit the bullet and made this stuff CGI so he couldve delivered on these premises without spending as much.

the problem here Falls squarely upon Ridley Scott's shoulders
he should have been removed from the project. 50 years of his own personal destructive habits left him a Broken Man.

I waited long for this movie and was disappointed when it turned out to be a crappy alien reboot, instead of a continuation of Shaw’s story. Total waste of potential.
