If you don't know how to hold them comfortably or confidently, just put them chest to chest meaning they're facing you and you hold them against your chest. They might wiggle around a little but for the most part they will be happy and comfortable.

Its fine to hold a rabbit on its back as pong as they arent showing signs of stress and and comfortable. The real issue with this is that if the rabbit tries to twist and jump up they could injure themselves. Also dont worry you can put your bun in a “trance”.

As a person having bunnies, the best way to hold him is giving his back portion support by your hand and another hand on the front. That's how I do and my bunny 🐰 never feels uncomfortable in that way😊

For those curious, the best way to hold a rabbit is to cradle them in both arms, supporting the back feet the whole time. Rabbits are always stressed when you're picking them up, but they're less so if they have something under their feet. This also prevents them from kicking; rabbit leg muscles are powerful enough that they _can_ kick hard enough to break their own back if they're unsupported.

I always feel pain seeing people hold their buns by the ears. My boy Max would hold a grudge on me for a long time. (My boy is a Mini lop bunny)

As a person who shows rabbits in fairs, shows and all around raises them the only way out of those that is 'abusive' in your terms is the holding of the ears. The other two aren't bad for the rabbit whatsoever unless held in it for a extremely long period of time. The rabbit will tell you if its uncomfortable or doesn't like it.
