Sony is hard to beat! They are doing everything right. I have left Nikon after the Z6 after many many years with Nikon. I am so tired of Nikon's SLOW releases of new features.

Can you do a comparison between this and the R6?

I have a a7riv but i really want to switch it for the a74 only cause of the shutter close when changing lens + flippy screen. I hate losing out on the 62mp tho

… the 33 MP, the new menu, PP11, 4K:60p, 10 bit 4:2:2, better EVF, perfect AF and the flip display are the key facts for us, to use the a74 as b-cam beside the a1 and a7S3. So much better as the a73, it was an instant decision to buy the a74 – and sold the a73. 😏

The R6 has no crop in 4k 60p it also has a much nicer rear screen. The only real advantage for me is the A74 switches more efficiently from photo to video (but still not as efficient as the Nikon Z cameras)
Note: The only reason the battery appears good is because it driving a low res rear screen

@Gear & Light what camera do you recommend for hybrid shooting adventure (video and photo)?

I am a Still Photographer, I never use video. I was close to buy a Son A7IV as a second Camera, but the EVF are only 3.7 mega dots and the price are much higher than the A7III and at the time there was a big discount on the Sony A7RIVA which I have got now together with my Sony A7RIV.
