Abandoned in Japan: A 1991(?) S13 Nissan Silvia Q's (SR20DE powered?)

I see a lot of long-term parked cars rotting away here in Japan. Even so, they always seem to have an owner by virtue of the fact that they are at someone's house or workplace. This one is different though. This looks to be a genuinely abandoned car.

Was it stolen? Did the owner forget where he parked it? I'm afraid I've got no answers, just more questions.

A big surprise to me is that one of the windows is open AND there's even some money (okay, just 10 yen) sitting on the center console. That really does say a lot about the people of Japan.

It could be so that the plastic back was used to keep the weather out. Maybe the window wouldn't go up or is gone completely.

Such a shame though, the s13 has always been my favourite Silvia.

Great video Daniel. Most definitely is a later model (series 2 effectively) Silvia. Could be newer than 1991. The fabric on the drivers seat is late model, definitely later than 1991, but it is hard to tell if the rest of the interior matches that drivers seat or if it is the more common grey tweed. Bit of a shame seeing some nice original items go to waste such as the standard rear speaker covers which are scarce in Australia, the weathersheilds, and the factory option parking pole in the bumper.

That is a CA18 front bumper so I would say it is '88 '89 and running a CA18DE.
Then again it does have SR20 spec wheels.
Who knows without checking the ID plate :D
Q's were non turbo Queens
K's were turbo Kings

I wish that kind of respect for what doesn't belong to you was more common here in the LA area..

Hi Daniel,
Here in New Zealand we have a monthly Hot Rod Cruise night at local BurgerFuel stores, any car enthusiasts are welcome, I go to both the Napier and Hastings stores on the second Tursday nights of the month alternating from odd months in Hastings, even months in Napier.
Mostly American and Australian classics and a few British and occasional Japanese cars show up, real nice burgers and great cruise afterwards with cool cars.

on Fri and Sat night we meet usually at the sears in Saint Paul Minnesota, United States... then around 12 midnight we go racing... my channel is filled with videos of what happens on the streets of MN. Anyway, awesome work man, I found this channel at 3am one night and have been watching ever since! Huge fan

This is a 1991-1993 Q's 2.0 with 1989-1990 model brick headlights (common cosmetic upgrade)
The 1.8 CA18 ('89-'90) had a four sided S badge on the boot lid, the 2.0 ('91-93) model had the oval shaped S badge just like the one in this video.

In the states, Quaker Steak and Lube hosts car and motorcycle shows in their parking lots. They also are completely motorsport-themed inside and have amazing food.

In Canada, and probably throughout the United States, the A&W chain of hamburger restaurants often has classic car meets on a specific day, usually Friday or Thursday from my understanding.

Montreal has a few specific car hangouts. One of them is a restaurant called the Orange Julep, that has classic car meets on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Then there's Grand Prix weekend - during the week leading up to grandprix, all of the muscle cars, tuners, and supercar owners meet up at restaurants downtown.

Friends and I host a car meet every Tuesday at our local Chic-fil-a since they have a pretty big lot. Been going on for a year, we have had a bit of everything show up, from your standard Honda civic to built Mitsubishi Evo's and more.

Cars and coffee is pretty popular at the moment. Parking lot outside and coffee shop, usually Starbucks or similar

reminds me of something in los angeles. this man owns an original light blue 1968 corvette that has just been sitting outside for years and the worst part of it is he said its not for sale. and its in near perfect condition even the paint despite just sitting

It's a Q's SR20DE (naturally aspirated) automatic as you mentioned, so here it's only good for p platers with a manual conversion, usually these models are parted out in Australia, or the shells are used as race/drift cars! And you occasionally see them for sale with 'one owner since imported'. But yes as you said, it wouldn't last a week down here haha! Still gets me right in the feels tho as I'm a massive s13 fan. too answer your question, working at maccas, i often see nice cars and that. but usually theirs massive meets at auto one across the road, but hey its next to a hungry jacks!

Any updates on this car? I would be surprised if it's still sitting there.

What a shame that it's just sitting there.  It looks like an early model Silvia too (1989 or 1990) if that's a fact, it's probably the CA18.  I would restore the car, SR20DET swap (with 5-speed manual conversion, coilovers, wheels and call it a day!

Always nice to find an abandoned Silvia and I know the feeling. ;)
Can't you just make an occasional visit now and then and turn that into a timelapse video? :P

BTW: nice to see the Youtube sticker behind you on the side of the bookcase!

Those are brick headlights which I thought were the most common in Japan (base model).  Q's are double projector and K's were tripple projector, I believe.  Funny thing is over here in USA, we prefer the base model headlights - Bricks.  They are the most expensive by far.

i find abandoned cars mostly in provinces like that 1960's ford I showed you a while ago, there is an abandoned burned 1990's Daewoo racer that is abandoned for at least 3 years, that's in Mala district, outside of town. and there is also an abandoned 1990 Toyota celsior in Ibaraki for more than 4 years, the golden US$150 badges have been stolen, but it still has those fancy chromed german wheels that cost a fortune, leather seats and the OEM navigator, but my uncle says that you will find lots of cool (abandoned) cars near the airport for obvious reasons.
