Very clear instructions. I usually just watch and learn. You are the One and only teacher that I don't get tired of just listening. Thanks and greetings from Finland!

I love your detailed and very clear explanations in this and your other videos. I've seen other people''s videos describing the high elbow through the catch and the angle of elbow bend, but they miss the reason IE (greatly) increasing the surface area in the direction of the stroke over and above the area of the hand. I sort of figured it out, but you explain it so well. I think it helps tremendously to understand the WHY of doing something. Thank you so much.

I have watched a few videos to understand and learn how to do the 'catch' and this is BY FAR the BEST one I found. I specifically looked for a video from this coach (Fares) because I watched the one in which he explains how to do a flip turn and it was also (and by far) the best I found on youtube.

Very good explanation! I have something to add. I had a great coach who had a slightly different interpretation of evf. There is no pause after the extention. Immediately after the extension you point your fingers down and set the catch meaning as early as possible. I never understood how to do that until this week when it clicked that the whole key is showing down your armstroke when setting up the catch and then accelerating through the exit into the recovery.

I also purchased the Finis forearm fulcrum and bolster paddles. After just a couple weeks of using them I saw an improvement in popping my elbow early and keeping the wrist straight which keeps the integrity of your paddle.

Thanks, this is great video, and I'll start to practice these drills today! One question: I've seen you say elsewhere (I think on the video with the 5 beginner freestyle drills), that the elbow should always be the highest point of the arm through every arm position of the freestyle stroke. On this video, you speak of stretching the arm out straight in front before the turn/bend of the elbow that begins the catch. This seems to contradict the instruction in the video I referenced. Can you help me reconcile the two? Thanks!
