A great artist is also a humble person and that rewards the music. You can see that he watched the conductor like a member of the orchestra, so that he can play the first note with accurate timing. Bravo Lang Lang.

31:47 - 33:05 What a finalé! I just heard this part from a video about modes, where different scales besides minor and major are explained. Grieg uses it here for great effort! And what a stellar performance of the musicians here!

He played all the right notes in the right order. Sorry to paraphrase Eric Morecombe. I think Lang Lang is a genius. I could listen to him all day long. In my humble opinion the greatest pianist ever..

Lang was quite expressive and emotional in rendering this work by using rubato and pedals, but that doesn't sound vulgar or boring to me. I feel comfortable with his rendition. Expressiveness doesn't necessarily lead to boredom, as long as it can be demonstrated in a variety of ways. BTY, I feel good about Leif's rendition as well. Being open-minded is not that hard.

In general, if you dislike a pianist, you'll directly skip any video about the pianist, and then Youtube will recommend the videos based on your search history. There's one "prestigious" commentator here who considers the pianist's performance rather so-so. Interestingly, the commentator has appeared in the comment section of this video and written critical comments for multiple times. In fact, I've found him in the comment sections of almost all Youtube videos relating to Lang Lang. I'm confused about why he keeps appearing in the comment sections since he obviously doesn't like Lang's performance and he can easily skip such videos. Another thing that confuses me is that he used to leave disparaging comments on Grieg's Piano Concerto no.1, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, and Liszt's Grand Galop Ghromatique. In this comment section, he described Grieg's piano concerto as the commonest concerto in existence. Why? He might be a piano instructor, or a pianist working for communities. Anyway, he's really interesting.

Such a sure piece and smooth performance. I believe that I like Mr. Lang in the concerted works that are gentle such as this, rather than his recital jobs.

Everything is always over exaggerated with this pianist to single notes or entire phrases. The tempo, rubato, dynamics.etc How people can rate this pianist I will never know. Yuja Wang is a far better pianist all round. As for The Grieg Concerto Stephen Kovacevich or Leif ove Andsnes are far better interpretations than this, everything perfectly balanced.
