The thing is, when you try to use something to kill 682, if the attempt fails, he gains some kind of power up and can use it against you. It's why they haven't nuked him yet, they're terrified he'll survive and become a walking nuclear meltdown
It doesn't happen 100% of the time, they used that one deadly crystal on him, and while it destroyed a lot of his biomass, it didn't kill him, yet he gained no new ability. He was pretty pissed off though, and he swore to track down everyone involved with that particular test so he could kill them

He has one weakness that's launching him into space in a set direction into infinity he may adapt against the absence of heat or too much solar radiation but he cannot control the direction he floats at set pace if you sent him into the void where the absence of matter or planets he cannot return back
