Perfectionism or OCD? (tbd)

We all have different ADHD comorbidities. NEVER think you’re a “failure” because you can’t do something another ADHDer can (like keep a house organized). You have no idea what you can do that they can’t. ❤️

The same thing happened with my ADHD. I think we’re given faulty and overly simplified information about disorders like these. The hardest part was getting my parents to believe me, even though they were able to tick down more than the necessary criteria for a diagnosis.

Yeah I have ocd and adhd
Fun times

Fun fact ocd and adhd and anxiety tie in all together
I was diagnosed with adhd but I really could be that it’s just ocd

The major difference is the intrusive thoughts. If you just have to do it because it’s the proper way to do it, that’s perfectionism. If you have to do it, because you think something bad will happen to someone if you don’t, that’s OCD.

Girl really said "I thought I didn't have OCD but then I checked TikTok as a source"

As someone who has EXTREME OCD, I can confirm this is extremely accurate. Its just hard cuz you think you HAVE to do it, but it's just the thoughts in your head. I've been going through therapy to try to calm it down or get rid of it, but I haven't gotten over it. I'm glad this is a video where I can talk about my mental health. If you're going through ocd, you're not going through it alone. ❤️

I get horrific intrusive thoughts and have to do things like avoiding stepping on cracks and running past cars and counting my steps whenever i walk otherwise i think some nondescript awful thing will happen to my loved ones and I am looking at getting checked out for OCD now, but I blamed it on my already diagnosed combo of ADHD/autism for the longest time just because I'm not a neat or tidy person.

I had mild OCD, luckily it doesn’t make my life difficult but my parents find it comical. Like I cant fall asleep if I don’t check every cupboard/drawer doors in my room if its fully closed. My dad recently realised how disturbing in the stupidest way it can be when I needed to go back into public toilet to rearrange paper towels because leaving them the way they were gave me terrible anxiety. Luckily my Adhd is also pretty mild so it doesn’t feel like a big struggle and my family laugh about it/ my behaviours too

I'm happy you're getting evaluated for it. I finally got an appointment for ASD/ADHD evaluation in April. I fought for it for over 7 years. It wasn't until my son was born that I started to question myself. I tick all the boxes of autism and add.

OCD is NOT about making everything perfect its very different

YES. OCD is a sensitive subject and many people with OCD feel belittled or that the severity and suffering of their illness is downplayed by other types of OCD being portrayed/mentioned.

I definitely have ocd, I have to open and shut the fridge twice everytime I open it, it I get water I turn the sink on twice, if I HUG someone I have to hug them twice. If something is out of place I get way to much anxiety, if the bed sheets are perfect I go into panic mode, and so many more.

I have OCD and I thought the same things as you did, and my ‘things’ are dismissed to yours (folding clothes, everything having to be perfect, etc). Good luck and I wish you all the best ❤

that silverware comment really got me bc my whole family yells at me when i tell them they’re stacking the silverware wrong or i just go behind them and redo it when they’re done. i do the first thing too when i’m doing laundry, but i don’t really care about my bed that much? idk why it’s only specific things that matter to me that’s why i do think i’m only a perfectionist and it’s not actually OCD
