I grew up southern Florida, diver/spearo my entire life. 13 years spearing Hawaii while stationed there in the Navy and going to Guam next, looking forward to getting Dogtooth tuna while there. I always look at sharks, especially those encountered generally, while bluewater is like stray dogs. His advice is spot on.

That is the most comprehensive shark work I’ve ever seen. I’m at ease watching you interact with these sharks. Like most things in the ocean, they require respect and a watchful eye. Awareness is key. Just fantastic. I’ve stumbled on your channel today and so impressed with how good it is. Very professional.

Brother you bring a real down to earth feel to your videos and content. You said it perfect. Ive been diving since 97, loved every splash. We need more like yourself that help people understand sharks. Keep it up!

You have done more to convince me to go ahead and spear fish in 15 minutes than anyone ever before you has in 48 years. I've been in the water with sharks numerous times but have always been leary to spearfish bc the added "blood in the water" scenario. Ty for making this video.

My brother and I use to catch 6- 8 ft. bull sharks in our lagoon in Goodland(on Marco Island) back in the 70's. Since then I've always had a pretty healthy respect for those fish. Started diving in the 80"s and saw lots of sharks, was never bothered by any of them (thank you God) . Now all my kids and wife dive whenever we get back to Fla., I hope to move back some day. Love your videos, you are so smooth. Stay safe.

The last time I was spearfishing in the Vandenberg (Key West)I saw a big bullshark(A really big bullshark) enough reason to move to another spot a couple miles away.
I'm not afraid to dive when sharks are present but one thing is dive and another one is fishing with sharks present. (When they go in feeding mode you can become their food as well)
This is an excellent video to show us how far you can take it with the sharks.
Good luck and be save.

My only diving experience was while I was stationed at Midway Island. It was with the US Navy, but recreational so we were kind of over supervised. We mostly just went after lobster, there were just a couple of spear fishermen. What was interesting, and very dangerous was we used to put our lobster in a mesh bag, we used a Hawaiian Sling to spear them, put them in the bag and move on, working to fill the bag. This would attract sharks because we would leave a trail of blood, and once I had a large shark rip the bag completely off of my weight belt. Afterwards when we noticed the sharks following us, we would quit and go to the surface. This was 1981-82, and recreational scuba diving was relatively new to the island, but it is surprising how quick the sharks learned what we were up to and would follow us around picking up scraps. Thank you for the video!

Great video! I have had many run-ins with Sharks from Bulls to Great Whites. Tigers & Great Whites do not leave you alone if you bring the fish to you but, they are not senseless maneaters either. When you are spearfishing you have to get over your fear of sharks but you have to always respect them as they can cause severe damage or death. You are so right when you say that if you get to a spot and sharks are charging you from the beginning, you should not shoot any fish and move to another spot.
