I thought it was weird initially and did what Clint just did. However, I ended up switching to the initial setup, which now seems perfect. Upper bottom is an upshift, lower button is a downshift. Both of my mtn bikes are now AXS, which keeps me from switching back and forth on shifting arrangement when switching bikes. Since Clint rides so many different bikes, I understand why he’d want consistency.

Hey Clint, I know you're a biker from the '90s like me with a lot of usage of mechanical derailleurs. Now that you've got AXS and transmission for a while could you cover a vlog-style video on your thoughts? I've no experience with electric shifting but someone blames that on switching from one system to another they've lost the feedback and the capacity to handle, for example, a big/brutal rapid upshift approaching an unexpected tech uphill. It seems that in electronic shifting development, they take into consideration more the e-bike rookie needs, that don't manage cadence or trick like unload power to easy gear shift. Since you are always brutally honest in your opinions it would be nice to know what is your thoughts....thanks in advance.

Did the same to mine, no idea why they have it the other way round by default. Kinda doesn't make sense that way around.

Motorcycles are the same, up for upshift and down for downshift. Makes sense and only takes a couple of rides to get use to it. I wish this making sense would move into cars with electronic shifters, forward/drive and backward/reverse... but all of the smooth brains can handle making sense over how its always been done... LOL
