What is a remote-mounted or bypass filter? What is oil analysis? Well, first you should know that if you are not using a remote-mounted or bypass filter, you are wasting tons of money and time on oil changes and still prematurely wearing your engine. That’s wasteful and, well, old school.

The modern way is to use a remote-mounted oil filter. Your stock, OEM-style screw-on oil filter has to get high pressure, high volume oil to essential engine moving parts. It CAN’T fine filter. As a result it can catch particles only in the 15-20 Micron range. Any real expert will tell you that you need an additional, after market add-on filter to keep your oil ultra-clean, and radically clean oil can radically increase the life of your engine.

Not all remote or bypass filters are equal, though. Some plug easily and have a poor micron rating. At insane diesel, we recommend the EXTREME, the best remote oil filter you can get. It filters progressively from 10 micron down to 1 micron, catching water and other abrasives on the first pass. No other filter comes close. It even removes soot from the oil of diesels and can radically extend engine life.

So what is a remote-mounted filter? Just that: it mounts anywhere under the hood or on the frame of the vehicle. Your stock filter continues to do what it does best, getting high oil pressure to the engine. The EXTREME filter though is now doing all the heavy cleaning. In fact, it can get your oil technically CLEANER than new oil. It’s that good.

A remote filter requires an oil line from the pressure side of the engine, usually from the stock oil filter housing, and then a return line to a non-pressurized port where the oil can be returned safely to the oil pan. The EXTREME filters at a rate of 1.5GPM, effectively cleaning your entire oil supply every 1-2 minutes while maintaining essential engine oil pressure.

The EXTREME has a super high capacity element that holds 400x more contaminants than your stock filter and is clean & easy to exchange. Just every year or 15,000 miles for diesels/20,000 miles for gas engines, swap out the element and top off the oil. Your stock or OEM filter will likely still be very clean, but you may want to change it at the same time simply to keep it from degrading. The only time you’ll ever need change your oil, is if the oil analysis shows it’s necessary.
Some remote-filtered vehicles have gone 100,000 miles and years without needing an oil change. Here’s an example of a semi-truck that went 162,000 miles before its oil returned a warning. And that’s just because a scheduled remote oil-filter change was ignored.

OK, so your oil is always clean and frequent oil changes have been eliminated. Instead, you are sampling your oil regularly and getting it analyzed. This is the new model. A quality laser oil analysis not only lets you know everything about your oil, but also the condition of your engine. It can let you know if there is fuel in your oil from DPF or Re-gen mode on the new diesels, or if there are metal particles from the pistons or the turbo for example, helping you prevent a catastrophic failure before there is even any sign of trouble. That cannot only help you save costly engine repairs, but prevent a disaster that can strand you when you least expect it. If you have family or a business that depend upon you, that information is invaluable, and still costs less than an oil change.

Love your vehicle? EXTREME Remote filters and oil analysis are the smart, modern way to protect one of your greatest investments: your car or truck, and radically increase engine life while saving hundreds. What is the best remote oil filter? What is oil analysis? You are now up to speed.
