I've got an Amsoil bypass on my Cummins. Just had the oil tested after 15000 KMS and it came back perfect. They advised to run it another 15000 KMS and test oil again.

Thanks. I just got my 12v and was planning on changing the oil and filter every 500-1000 miles until it clears up.

The error most people make when evaluating bypass oil systems is immediate dollar cost vs. overall value. People rightfully so, but too much, concerned with how much a system costs initially, and they underestimate the overall value to a person, in terms of value, over time. Having a car run significantly more miles with better performance, significantly less wear on parts, overall longevity, obviously using slightly less oil, changing it less often. What is the value in terms of new cars not financed, repairs not needed, and even the freedom factor knowing that you are less a victim of the new car market and all that entails, at least far less often.

what about using the oil return from the bypass as a supply line to your turbo? maybe not with a journal bearing turbo but with a ball bearing turbo, Ball bearing turbos require alot less oil and often times you have to run an oil restrictor because too much oil flow through a ball bearing will cause oil to leak through the turbo seal on the exhaust side. So it could be a double win, you use highly filtered oil to feed your turbo and you utilize the turbos oil return back to the block, do more with less.

Just ordered amsoil for my detroit 12.7! Imma do an analysis at 15k miles without and then with and see what they say, ams does he be testing as well it’s $35. I paid $300 for the kit and filter and then another extra filter was like $70/80

You realize almost every oil filter has an internal bypass inside. I too block my filter adapters but also run filters with a higher bypass pressure required. Basically running 2 bypasses in stock form. I run non bypass full hydrologic filters on most all my automatic transmissions builds. The 47RE 48RE are easy & cost about $100 to build. For race our oil filters have a much higher psi to bypass & some guys run an oil accumulator & no bypass at all.

I use Baldwin only on my 1992 12Valve. BF7349 full flow for Oil, BF7772 no sensor for fuel and B5134 for coolant. Change the oil twice a year.

About water in the oil, water is a product of combustion, and combustion products to blow by the rings into the oil because ring seal is not perfect. This is why we have PCV valves. The only way to keep water out of oil is to make sure that when you run your truck, make sure that the short runs are kept to a minimum and that the oil is frequently allowed to come up to full temperature. That will "boil" off any water which will then be evacuated by the PCV valve along with the other gasses in the crankcase.

Sorry to say this, but when you find anything in your full flow oil filter, unless in a *freak of chance* the damage occurred as you were shutting the engine off just before the oil change, it's already too late.

Ever run a centrafuge? That's what I want to try next but will need to add an oil drain in the pan since I run twins on my older VP44s, VE & Ppump

I don't know if they are still available, but I am using the Frantz by-pass oil filter. It uses 2 rolls of toilet paper. Frantz had all the test info available and it was very good. It certainly is cheap to change out as long as the was no covig 19 plandemic.. Ha

👍👍... an engine with fuel dilution, cause of excess cold idling or whatever reason isn't gonna benefit from this ??.. I've meaning to get a by pass rigged up on my trucks...thank you for everything... congrats on 25K👍👊

I’ve always believed in the benefits and used bypass filters on all my rigs. I’m getting ready to do one on my 12v. Could one just use an oil sandwich adapter with an in and out port for the feed and return of the bypass filter?

Amsoil has the 2 micron bypass filter that was installed on my Ram '96 12 Valve in 2000 by the original owner. I purchased the truck in 2011 and continue to use the Amsoil bypass system. However, I would like to find a less expensive bypass filter with the 2 micron threshold. The Baldwin bypass is 12 micron, correct?

I have 3 gas vehicles with bypass filters. Scott 1000 1 ply works just fine its like 1.00 per roll. paying 36.00 for kleenoil filters that seems a bit nuts...but hey...the filter company has to turn a profit. Running 3 Frantz filters, oil analyics have been perfect. Gas vehicle mileage full compression (tested): 370, 000; 205, 000; 210, 000. That's what a decent bypass filter can do for even gas engines. For 3 to 500 bucks you can essentially bulletproof your engine from wear, and possibly save money on oil changes. But the value is in having analytically clean oil 100% of the time, the Frantz also picks up excess water in the oil. Most people wont get it.

I'm curious, what colour is the oil after running a bypass filter? Does it keep it clear/golden?

On the link Amazon is bringing up the Wix filter base not the Baldwin filter base!!

Do you know where to get the billet oil fill cap with the fitting for a 12v

I'm going with the Parker Racor system. I think they are all good, but price and media prices have made my decision. Also a graduated filtration media.
