Thanks for your reply, I've had 9 years experience around the Nakhon Phanom area but looking to embrace Chiang Mai for possible retirement can't wait to try Khao Soi as a new food experience and specialty of the far north.

Yeah, nice; love those old buildings on that part of Thape. The yellow one that's now Kiti Panit was deserted for a long time, so glad it's been restored. The tea house is very "pinkie out" but worth going in to get a drink to check out the inside. Love Spices and Peshwar too! Been going to both for years. Have a good trip.

Go up to the iron bridge and turn left and on the right hand side of the road is big exchange shop that use to offer the best rates. Bought USD and AUD there and even sterling.

Sakol Money Exchange, just by the Iron Bridge at the bottom of Loi Kroh road. It's the best exchange in town. I hope you found it.

The last time I was in there (4-5 years ago) it was 80 baht for a chicken curry, I think. I might be wrong though.
