This video helped me to archieve the loudness i always wanted to get. I was never able to get my songs to compete with commercial releases until this video. The "trick" with using two limiters in a row and the simple mindset to balance your track with eq frequency wise was gold for me. It feels like someone just opened my eyes to mastering. And also i found out that if the mix is bad, there is no chance that your master will sound like commerical releases. Thanks a lot for your videos Fabio!

Wow! The examples at the end show how good you are at mastering! Lot’s of respect for you, mate. Best, Emiel.

Well about the loudness extra tips:
The Spectrum Balance is a MAJOR for this purpose, use a visualizer (i like Izotope tonal balance witch is not Too precise so i have to use my ears) even if your mix is not extra loud if you have a proper spectrum balance it won't gonna sound to shitty in comparaison to commercial tracks.

Nice video...just got one (my biggest) problem: I use Pro Tools and my mix sounds exactly the way that I want. After bouncing to a stereo track and play it on windows media player it sounds different, kind of lifeless or dull. The reverb and the clarity isn't that present and crisp as in the PT Session...and all I did was just bouncing with the same sample rate. PLEASE GIVE ME THE ADVICE THAT I NEED

I'm such a noob at mastering but I use a lil tape on my drum bus and alot on my basslines and stuff... So I dnt need to be looking at pultec stuff or or loadsa different had stuff I could literally just use them... I know fabfilter stuff is transparent and all ur classic compressors use tape or tube stuff to colour... But I've helped me alot..

Well you just won a subscriber with those magnificent demos of mastered songs, really adds a lot of definition, color and "roundness" to the sound.

it’s hard to A/B your mastering chain when they’re outputting significantly different levels - obviously the added loudness sounds better, but the EQ and saturation you’re doing are much harder to notice that way.

Great video man, I'll be using these plugins for sure!! Loving Big Kevy's X is calling too, your mastering chain has taken it next level

Why the out ceiling is at -8.5 on the waves limiter? Is there any reason or is just a snapshot of the moment you where working on it? Thx in advance

Really nice video, explained well, thank you!
I'm just not sure about comparing effects of your mastering using different loudness - it's a bit pointless since louder almost always sounds better (our ears works a bit like limiters when sound get louder, so yeah - it sounds better). Would love to hear a comparison with exactly the same output levels. It won't make us hear everything you did clearly, because of YT compression etc... but it would be better than cheating us with loudness which is happening right now ;)

How much headroom is needed for mix down before mastering?
