I totally agree on this...its better to know how to master yourself so that you don't have to be dependant on anyone else first and so you don't limit yourself to what you can produce. Thanks for the insight once again man!

How usual is it for libraries to own the master? And to not pay a fee for the master? I’d still own 100% publishing, and sync fees linked to that, but they would own 100% master and the sync master fees

I personally consider mastering & meta data part of claiming yourself as a "one stop" producer.

Self independence equals self sustainability in your career as a TV/film producer. Per track mastering by someone else will eat up your back end royalties. So DIY indeed.

I agree with you but I can't afford all the equipment needed as well as trying to learn all this stuff. I tried in the past and got the wrong
advice or no advice and bought equipment only to find out that I needed more equipment to be able to use the equipment I had.
