the overlap between "humor a little kid would find funny" and "wait, is this a fetish thing" is too damn high with these ads

"Is this just rage bait?"
Yes. Yes it is. The "Ugh these guys suck surely I can do better than them IT CAN'T BE THAT HARD!!!" reaction is *exactly* what they re trying to get out of us.

'Do you suffer from Phd?' Sounds like a 'polite' way of asking someone if they have student debt

Regular users: [censored curse word]
Social media sites: "30 day ban!"
Ads: [literal softcore porn and bigotry]
Social media sites: "you're so right sweetie"

I had a game ad pop up in a game I was playing. They programed the woman screaming help to not be an audio but a notification sound. So, even though my sound was turned down to zero/off suddenly a woman starts screaming help on my phone and it cannot be skipped until the timer is up or unless you click and download the game. They legit were holding me hostage while I was sitting on the bus.

I think the funniest thing about the Pokémon ripoff is that Click suggested that they named it "Pocket Monsters" to avoid codewords, as if that's not literally what Pokémon stands for in the first place and therefore the easiest way to get caught for copyright infringement

Fun animal fact: A kangaroo uses its powerful hind legs to hop as fast as 30 miles per hour. But, the shape of its body, legs, and tail means it can't walk backwards.

Depicting women as someone incompetent, or a cheater, or a sexual object, and bodyshaming men for "not measuring up"... Are those ads some training ground for future incels?

fun fact for the ad at 39:08 its probably not illegal, as in the US it is 100% legal to own lock picks and have them on your person. However, if you are caught committing any degree of misdemeanor crime with lock picks on you the crime is elevated to a federal offense.

The raging misogyny in some of those game adds is deeply disturbing.

Honestly? It kinda just makes me wish there was an actuall genuinely good dilapidated house game that put effort into making the game with no false advertising and no ads. One where you got to move the furniture around, and paint the walls, and decorate how you please, and you got to make your house bigger and better as you earn more money through honest hard work- Wait, that's just House Filpper-

Most YouTube ads for me nowadays are mostly either rage-baiting, super sexualised and sexist, or just weird motivational coaches.

TikTok had this string of absolutely foul, disgusting mobile game ads that showed like cartoon/gamey looking pimple popping and pulling insects out of wounds or ears and even a split second of seeing them turned my stomach. I will NEVER touch a game that used those ads.

No furry ads?
Maybe, just maybe, we need a separate video to fully explore those new, unknown grounds?

As an autistic person, I have started reporting the tylenol ad every time I see it, just out of spite

The thing that bugs me the most about ads in general is that there's no way to put filters in place to protect yourself from sensitive content (I'm very much including horror in that category).

I once attended an industry talk about game advertisements that unexpectedly revolved around mobile and "adult-oriented" game ads. I'll spare you the details, but the main takeaway is that, in most cases, the ads don't accurately depict the actual game – often, they're not even close. The advertising companies themselves don't understand why it works, but it does, so they continue producing these ads. Lastly, the target demographic seems to be middle-aged stay-at-home moms, and the woman holding the talk was a high-ranking executive of one of the biggest companies that produce these ads.

So, I've actually played Matchington Manor, it's pretty much a matching game like Candy Crush with this quiant story of you (you are not Tiffany, you are just you) and Tiffany making friends and renovating the manor. I've actually played enough to finish the house and it moves you to a different area as part of the story. It's pretty cute and stands on its own, so its disappointing that they false advertise so hard. The other weird thing is that the scummy dude in the ads is actually a carpenter who loves puns and Tiffany has a crush on, not at all like the ads show.
