Great help. Im a total noob, yet have set myself up with VR and a whole day fixing the settings for a flight stick. Watched your film as I wanted to know about scanning and if it was a unit that comes with the ship and how you scan etc. Yet maybe one of your other videos will tell me. Thank you anyway. Just a suggestion it is safer to aim at the right or left side of the main star while scooping then I align with my next system before scanning (Edit just noticed how old this is)lol

I'd advise any explorer with no shields to AVOID picking up data caches. You get back to sell em and your going to get intersected by every other pirate and it takes seconds to lose weeks/months worth of data.

How do you scan a star? I've only been playing for a few days. I'm a mailman so far.

Why would you waist all that time to pick up stolen illegal cargo that will only net you 4k?
You are literally risking getting killed when returning to civilization and adding extra weight to your ship. Not for 4K ;-)
Additional weight with the most squishy equipped ship you can manage screwing you over on jump range and landing on high G planets.
Taking the risk of being interdicted or killed by a station if you get scanned when you return with a ship you don't even have any shields equipped.... LOL
Kids don't do this... you could lose days or even weeks of exploration data... hehehe

Why do you encourage "cherry picking" during exploration?
A "real" explorer will scan every previous undiscovered object in the system.
A person in it JUST for money will only pick the "good" objects.
I have dropped into systems with 15, 20 even 30 objects. But, only ones scanned are the "good" things.
And, I'll scan everything else in the system and get my name on everything left in the system.
You get bonus credits for everything previously undiscovered.
This "cherry picking" attitude to exploring is a little sad.

yet a lethal one training kids from child hood to cheat, kill, shot, keep away from constructiveness physical fatigue, , , , lack of sleep, continues alertness and vision impairment lead to permanent disability ... like an injured beast tends to attack human because it is the easy industry is much more dangerous than asteroid or meteorite to our next time to lessen game development which teaches how to manipulate resources how to cheat how to kill
