I actually had a bad accident was hiking with my Alaskan husky fell 18 feet broke my leg in 8 places and was unconscious she ran to the trail and waited till morning to catch the first jogger and led him back to me about a mile away she saved my life and leg 3 surgeries later lots of PT I owe it all to her

My late doggo used to do this - anytime I'd fall, he'd immediately run to me and guard me until I got up. He was small and nobody suspected him to be smart but damn, he was loyal to a fault. Loved him to bits and still kinda miss him even though he's been gone for maybe a decade.

Not only dogs are actually concerned, I have an English bunny, one of those types with the ears down. I played death in front of him and he came straight to me and used his little paws to try to wake me up, sometimes he would cuddle with me in bed and we would sleep together, I love him so much
