Spiralling Serger Top

Today we are gonna shirr the shirt and remake the diy fabric flowers shirt that I made a while ago. Textile flowers are fun for a festival or a hippie fashion girl, I aint wearing them though. So I am gonna cut them off, repress the eyelets so that they are tight in the fabric. (the fabric is reinforced in case you want to add eyelets too - they do not make much sense but definitely give an more expensive avant-garde designer feel to it) Than we are gonna start or fabric manipulation technique called shirring. With shirring you are elasticating a fabric making it stretchy and also shrinking it. If you want to shir large panels in a garment, take the shrinkage into account and definitely size up a bit. My elastic yarns where not so much, but also I did not have a large enough shirt to shirr the fabric completely. Winding the bobbin loosely with the elastic thread. On top you take your preferred color, preferably a strong thread as mine was breaking a couple of times. I used horizontal stitchlines with my sewing machine trying to go randomly and not straight at all, so that I get a very irregular texture in the fabric . I am gonna wind my bobbin up with the elastic thread, not stretching it out. Than for the shirring part I reduced the tension of the bobbin in the bobbin case with the little screw. I had tension of the sewing machine quite low. The stitch length has to be a bit larger and the larger it is, the more shirring effect you get. This fabric manipulation technique to texture fabric is mostly suitable to gather fabrics like silk, poplin or any lightweight fabric. Let me know if you have more diy fabric modification ideas or ways to texture fabrics down below.

It's weird and avant-garde! Tucked-in looks good and tucked-out looks like a peplumesque shirt which is also good. A lot of talent you have!

Good God that hulk footage! Haha

I like the shirt out better than tucked in, it's like the shirt is half peplum. The silhouette is very fun :) And I think you may want to adjust your videos volume a bit more - they tend to go from very quiet to loud and back again.
