Let’s talk about the most important nutrient to support a healthy prostate.

An enlarged prostate can affect urination and libido. The more the prostate enlarges, the higher your risk is for prostate cancer. But, just because the prostate enlarges doesn’t mean you have cancer.

There is a powerful form of testosterone in the body called DHT. Testosterone can convert to DHT with a specific enzyme. Certain medications inhibit this enzyme to reduce DHT and help with male pattern baldness, prostate hypertrophy, and erectile dysfunction. But, zinc is actually a natural inhibitor of this enzyme.

Zinc is the most important nutrient to support a high testosterone level, sperm fertility, and a healthy prostate.

A zinc deficiency could lead to an enlarged prostate gland, inflammation of the prostate gland, and an increased risk of prostate cancer. A zinc deficiency can also affect your libido, testosterone, sperm count, and urine flow.

Causes of a zinc deficiency:
• Not consuming enough red meat
• Low stomach acid
• Certain medications (antacids, diuretics, statins)
• Alcohol
• Sugar consumption
• Frequent meals

Foods high in zinc:
1. Shellfish
2. Red meat

You could also take a zinc supplement. I have a great product called Trace Minerals Enhanced, that’s loaded with zinc and the other trace minerals you need.

However, zinc alone will not act as a cure for an enlarged prostate or other medical conditions because there are many other factors involved. One of these factors is your diet. To learn more about the diet you should be on, check out my videos on Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting.

This is one the best uses of YouTube: Having doctors share their knowledge with the public.

Hi, I'm 65 years old and have had BPH for more than 10 years. My doctor is keen for me to have surgery, but I'm not.
I saw your video 6 days ago, the next day I purchased a zinc supplement, taking 60mg each night before bed. 2 days after starting I noticed the urgency to urinate had gone and I only had to urinate 3 times a night instead of my usual 6 or more. 4 days after starting zinc I slept through the night; I haven't been able to do that for years!
I have found my urinary flow has greatly improved and I'm not experiencing interrupted flow any longer.
I'm amazed at the result, but I'm more amazed by the speed of the change.

Thanks doctor, you have given me my life back.

Thank you, four years of fasting, keto diet, now low carb diet, no dairy has helped me reverse my enlarged prostate, in my last visit of my doctor, he said my prostate is normal size and I can feel the difference, thank you

Thank you for your tip, Dr. Eric. I increased Zinc and I no longer have two of the symptoms I had. One was at times I could not hold back the urination and often a few drops wet the unddies on the way (of running) to the toilet. The other would do the opposite, which is not being able to urinate once I sit down. After increasing Zinc I am back to the way I was in my 20's. I mean completely back to normal... I cannot believe it! I am a fan...

For us older men, this is probably one of the most important videos to watch. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told to stop eating red meat, go on a plant based diet (which I did for awhile and felt terrible while on it) and, the most aggravating advice from my primary care physician to go on a statin drug. I said no to all of that, and along comes this video to confirm my suspicions. I really appreciate this video, Dr Berg. Thank you so very much.

I'm 58 and have prostate issues. Getting off (most of) the grains has had a huge impact on my prostate health...as in positive impact. Thanks for the good info. I'll be increasing my zinc intake.

I'm 59 and I'm beginning to take these "prostate" videos "personally". The timing couldn't have been more precise. Joking apart, grateful for the info, Dr.Berg.

Lovely video! I'm 54 and had prostate issues, but I haven't treated them with medicine or diet... I've found that meditation 2x day makes most of my physical issues disappear. Just wanted to add this to any of those that are seeking additional information. I believe it's not just about what you put inside, but also how you go about your life. In the end, we are responsible for what happens to us

I've learned more from watching all of your videos on these various subjects than I have in decades of seeing doctors, in person. I've made many adjustments based on these videos over the last few years, and the results have been amazing. Thank you.

Really thank you for mentioning that the problem is not necessarily too little zinc intake but is usually carbs or alcohol, etc. interfering with intake of zinc.

I was sort of skeptical about trying the zinc, but after 3 days of taking it I have to say a big thank you doc. It worked for me.
