In some MS Access tables you may need to keep track of the date or date and time the new record is added. You can have Access automatically fill in the date or time stamp when a new record is added. You can use Now or Date function to fill the time stamp or date in to the field automatically when a new record is added.

If you want to learn more about the date functions please click on the link below

Is this right?? to me it looks like the actual date/time is entered into the next blank record and so the new record has the date/time from the previous record. Or am I missing something?

Great video. I am using a barcode scanner to check items in and our in a lending library type of database. It's a very simple setup. Scan the item barcode which is one column and date/time which is the next column over. The problem is when I scan the next item, it populates in and replaces what's in the date/time column instead of going down to the next row. Is there a way to prevent this from happening ?

Never knew this, it also even works with the old access databases (at least Access 95, Jet 3.51)

You didn’t only type date or now in the default value field!. What was that? Because it does not work!
Thank you
