#bake #texture #difuse
📁 Hey Pixels! Creating this video was a little bit harder than expected. I did the baking process some monthes ago in Blender 2.8 and there weren't any problems... But this time it was pretty hard to figure out my mistake. I wasn't able to find a solution in the internet so it took me a while till I got the solution :)
Hope this will help you as well!
Cheers!

Thank you so much. I used this method on 2.79 and it worked, despite getting an error about some cyclical operation or reference. If I try it again and see the error I will update this comment with the exact message, in case it's of any use to someone else. Thanks again. :)

Thank you so much! You explained this better than every other video I’ve watched in the past and that said a lot!!

I've been trying to figure this out for the past two days, couldn't find anything online until I came across this video. Huge thanks!

Oh my gosh! I just started using 2.8, and with the subtraction of Texture Atlas, this is exactly what I needed to know! Thank you! This has been driving me insane!

OMG! I have to try this technique. That's exactly what i looking for. Less mess, and absolute control. But i still don't understand, how those disconnected image texture nodes are affecting on proper baking😂

I was getting stuck on trying to do this without making a new material/slot for the bake specifically. I guess that's what threw me off, so thank you for explaining it in this video!

OH MY GOD THANK YOU! i've been busting doors and internet routers up and down scouring the net and forums about baking textures in 2.8 for like half a day, this work as a charm, and i have like 33 texture to deal with lol which is a big hassle.
all the materials were in the Principle BSDF shader and for some reasons when i tried to bake them, they end up having the Emission color.. i understand somewhat the jist of the nodes now (albeit only began working with it a few days ago). making the new material is important because in all the fail attempts of mine, after being baked, the weird color change affects all the current textures so having a new texture image in the uv editor isnt enough.. the nodes too, i just copy and paste it all to the other materials' nodes (not linking of course). despite the new material only in Diffuse BSDF, i simply put the bake to dif and turn off the 2 dirrect and indirrect options and voila, now i can sleep soundly again, thanks so much btw, very informative video

Great tutorial! Best tip.... disable Direct/Indirect light before baking.... I have been trying to bake a Normal map and I couldn't figure out why it kept showing shadows. Thanks Simon, huge help!

Very helpful man. The new version made it complicated. In 2.79 you didnt need nodes to bake textures into another UV map.

This was really helpful -thanks for the info! It's one of the only videos I've been able to find for this task using blender 2.8.

Thank you, man. I should have seen this before going all jolly at Substance Painter. Now I know how to fix my stupid mistake of using individual materials for color IDs after I got my textures from Substance Painter and having a crapload of 2k textures for each Material Set because I though there was some kind of magic "Texture Atlas Button" in Substance that would let me "explain substance thats x, y, z materials all use the same texture set, look, looky look... I´ve already arranged the UVs for all of them to fit together beforehand :3). Well... That´s what I get I guess. Thank you again for showing me the right way.
