BOSE SOUNDLINK 3 - NOT CHARGING- NOT TURNING ON HOW TO FIX THIS

Update for my SL3 after a long years not using it, finaly! I fix it by replaced a new battery, don't have any other option.

I just tried holding down the mute button for 15 seconds and my speaker roared back into action. Thank you so much for the great advice fix?It truly works. Since my device was 1st gen I may order a new battery just in case, though I normally use the speaker under ac power.

It worked like magic 15 secs of Aux then 15secs of mute button. Then plug in power and it starts charging. Thank you ❤

With no sound it just seemed like a joke. I tried anyway. Then I read some comments in the thread. They suggested that I hold down the mute button for 15 seconds. It still seemed to fail, but then, like magic, it started working again!!! Thank you, thank you!!!

My Soundlink 3 was intermittently turning off, then finally wouldn’t charge at all. With the charger hooked up, I pressed and held the Mute button for about 15 seconds. Now, it looks like the battery is charging! Great fix!

Oh my goodness! I bought a new charging cable, plugged it in, pressed the mute button for 10 seconds and now I have my speaker back!! Turns out the old charger was knackered! Thank you so much for this, I’m so happy to have my awesome Bose speaker back and working!!!!

I did everything and it still doesn’t work on mine, only a flashing red light when plugged into power but nothing else, even when I press the mute button and reboots nothing else seems to happen the red light keeps flashing and when I try to turn it on when it’s plugged in or when it’s not nothing happens, what should I do?

I have the Bose Soundlink 2 and I guess my battery had drained causing it to go into some strange mode. Even after plugging it in it wasn’t charging and looked completely dead. The only sign of life was a beep when plugging it in or unplugging it. I tried holding down the mute for 10 seconds but it didn't work if it wasn't plugged into power. I had to plug it into power, then hold mute for 10 seconds until the lights lit up to say it was rebooting, and it's working again!! :-)

Amazing! Worked like magic....just before I was going to put my SLIII into storage.

After changing the battery, the Bose Sl3 continued to flash the red light even though the battery was full. The reset method didn't work, the speaker remained in protection mode. To deactivate the protection, I fed 12V back into the two docking station pins. Now it works perfectly.
