To be honest, I like this speaker a lot - I bought a few years ago when it came out and it still impresses me and works great to this day

Still rocking the SL3 in 2020, with no plans to replace it. Works great.

Purchased mine in 2016, stock charger wiring declined over time so did have to replace that. Also required a new battery last year after 4 solid years of play daily. Since new battery replacement it's good as new when it comes to the sound. Highly recommended to this day.

it's 2021 and I just purchase a rarely used one with all of the original packaging. I looked at the new speakers offered by Bose and I just keep coming back to the Soundlink 3.

2022, almost 2023 ans my SL3 stills with great sound, I dont find a replacement that is worth it. I just tested Anker Soundcore Motion Boom and naaaja. just not convincing SL3 still a beast.

I found one at a thrift store for $5. It needed a new battery. It is the best bluetooth speaker I have owned.

What about the revolve plus they just came out with. I love my Soundlink 3 so much but I hear the revolve plus is even better. I need to swing by Bose store and listen for myself i guess.

Will there be a new updated version (e.g. newer Bluetooth version) of the Bose Soundlink III anytime soon?

You're not re-pairing your phone when selecting the Bose from your phone's BT (paired) list. Selecting the Bose from the 'pre-paired' list, forces a Bluetooth speaker to quickly connect to your device instead. Otherwise The Bose (and similar memory brands of speaker) will assume the the most recently paired device 'conveniently' wants to reconnect. If they didn't have a pairing memory, you'd literally have to repeat full pairing process with each new connection to the speaker. Now that would be a pain in the Bluetooth butt! LOL

♥ This is my opinion, I could be wrong ♥

it’s April 2021 and mine is still going strong. I’ve replaced the cord but otherwise it’s amazing. I use it every day and i’ve dropped it and travelled with it for years. The sound could be better at high volumes. I use it with my phone and ipad and i never have to manually sync it.

Is it still worth it in 2017? Simple answer: No!!! but let me go a bit further
Was it woth buing in 2016) No!
Was it worth buing in 2015? guess.. No!
A few speakers witch outperform the soundlink 3: Doss SoundBox XL (90€), Sony SRS-XB30 (120€), BeoPlay A1 (200€), Douni A5 (80€) or even a JBL Charge3 (140€).. just to name a few
The Soundlink 3 is maybe comparable with an Aukey Eclipse (50€ speaker)
So please do me a favour and dont buy this shit today :D
