I really liked reading your blog, which led me to this vlog of yours. Like many others I'd always found the biblical passage on Abraham's call to sacrifice Isaac cruelly disturbing. You've explained it well. Thank you so much for caring and taking the time to do so, further enriching all our lives. Cheers

One, to establish Faith as important to God and two, to set up the Lamb of God -Jesus 42 generations later

Mr. Durtston, in Hebrews we see Abraham as one of the heroes of Faith. In listening to your teaching, it is so apparent that faith without works is dead. We can say all the right things, but the Lord wants to see our intent to "plunge the knife" in our everyday obedience, right? I think the word "faith" has lost some of its density in our modern world. I think it denotes feelings of some fluffy, silly hope, rather than the staunch conviction it should imply. Thank you again for another great video!

Are you familiar with the work and theory of René Girard? It adds an interesting dimension to this Bible story.

Your the first person I have heard that has considered the surrounding culture of child sacrifice and what the command meant. I wonder what would be the equivalent today? Nearest thing I can think of is being asked to move away with no internet or phone to stay connected. Then again Abraham was already asked to do that this point of the story

A living sacrifice is exactly how Jesus of Nazareth lived- always doing the circumstances his Father put in his path. So too us.
