Citroen Ami - electric microcars are the future

Citroen Ami is the best micro car that has come out of France since forever. Never have I driven something like this that is so charming and yet so useful.
This is not just for the hardened few this is the future of electric motoring in cities, but you might find a few down the road.

Have got an AMi since August here in Venice Italy... what can I say .... IT IS FANTASTIC.... If you have not tried one, I can undestand silly comments.... so go and try it, just remember it is not a car, it is a transport a new way of travelling

Fabulous Citroën!
My (non driver) daughter tells me you did a 3 point turn !
I suggested she get one but told me that where she works that 4 strong lads would just lift it and walk away with it !

This car makes incredible sense on mainland Europe, because many people, either very old or too young to get a license, drive these awful little noisy microcars with 50cc engines that make a terrible racket and cost 9 to 10 thousand euros new. This car will trounce them.

Just been watching Nobby's review of this and as a city car I could see it working but it's like a wheelie bin! Who in their right mind would ever want one?

I love this car and I'm so happy I will never get one.

left-hand drive and top speed 45kph is going to kill it, City cars have place but at some stage you need to go on the M50 in Dublin to go anywhere.

The Ami raises an interesting point Bob; do we really need infotainment & auto systems on cars that many of us don't want to use. I have an ID. 3+ and the first thing I do on every journey is switch off lane assist, on the roads I drive on I consider it dangerous and unnecessary. ACC is not safe on Irish motorways as I discovered passing Navan one day when it suddenly knocked 40kph off my speed I will never use it again. I suggest we get rid of these toys and get the costs of Electric cars down.

Hey Bob how much range does using the heater cost you?

I don't know 10k seems steep, considering what a Sandrero costs. It's a cute little yoke for the novelty though if anything... Great vid Bob.

Enjoyed this review Bob.
Brilliant in true - traditional - Citroën style; only they could do this. This is a wonderful piece of kit. Not everyone will 'get it' though of course but then they're not the target market.
Don't make comparisons with conventional cars, it is what it is and that's 'different'. The roads will be a better place for these - unless your'e stuck behind one of course. 50kmh would have been nice.
Go over to the rest of Europe and you're tripping over these in cities now, many of them available for 'rent and go' like the pedal bikes over here in Ireland.
I had an original AMI back in the 70's and it was just barking mad but utterly different, brilliantly designed and a delight to own. Even better, it really divided opinion.
Well done Citroën and fingers crossed our government don't feck it up with taxation.

Class looking motor!Nothing else like it on the road.Probably all the car you will ever need, if we could only get those windows to demist

I never laughed so hard when you did the burnout

Bottom line, if you cannot demist the windows in crappy weather then it can be as cute as possible but it’s still bloody dangerous.

I thought the price was between £5 to 6 grand which is the price it needs to be and will sell very well if it’s as high as you say then this car is dead in the water.

Remember people this is not a motor car. It's a quadricycle (city transport solution) here in France 14 year old children can drive them. Safer than a scooter for little Johnny or Janey.
The horrible "voiture sans permit" (micro cars) here, start at in excess of € 10k.

Would you drive the Citroen Ami in Ireland?
