We believed that the frail, asthmatic little boy who loved to collect insects would amount to anything special, much less the youngest and most robust president in US history.

"death had to take Roosevelt sleeping, for if he was awake, there would've been a fight."

Teddy was so cartoonishly masculine that one cannot help but adore him!

Teddy Roosevelt is the definition of badass.

He also kept 5 bears, a lion, a hyena etc. as pets at the white house, rode 100 miles on horseback at 51 to suss his whining army cavalrymen about a 25 mile ride, laughed in the face of a cowboy at gunpoint *who was shooting at him* in a bar before charging him and beating him unconscious with his bare fists, in an unrelated event was jumped by a group of 3 armed men and beat them all unconscious with his fists almost killing one of them from injury, Received the medal of honor, went mountain climbing for his honeymoon, had his boat stolen only to build a boat from scratch to pursue his assailants, catch them, beat them all into submission with his fists and escort them to the authorities, ended a Russian Japanese war and was the first president to earn a Nobel prize, during that time operating for the US Navy? He declared an unofficial war against Spain and sunk the Spanish fleet in under 4 hours, fought corruption in politics, ended segregation in a school, and created the United States Forest Service, protecting vast swaths of nature in the form of national parks, wrote 35 books and built panama canal.

Bully!

I can't imagine the pain that Theodore Roosevelt felt in February 1884. To lose his wife is sad enough, but to lose his mother as well...

When you're near-sighted and you first get glasses, it's like switching from 240p to 4K. Everything looks so damn crisp and beautiful, it's almost overwhelming.

The would-be assassin was not only apprehended, Roosevelt had him brought to him where the two stared eye-to-eye. Roosevelt demanded an explanation for this attack. When none was given, he ordered the man be handed over to the police, unharmed. He even showed off his still bleeding wound to the audience and refused to go to the hospital until he was done.

I'm from North Dakota. While we dont have much history, we have Theodore Roosevelt's national park. We even have the cabin he lived in!

An ancestor of mine served under Theodore Roosevelt in the Rough Riders. He was one of the greatest Presidents of all time. Maybe even the greatest.

Teddy Roosevelt is the quintessential example of a non-toxic masculinity. Someone who can be strong while also being temperate, someone with big ideas but who is also grounded in reality. One of the few cults of personality who actually deserved it.

In my humble opinion Theodore Roosevelt is one of the very best peacetime Presidents this country has ever had.His efforts on the behalf on conservation and preservation of wildlife and his concern about the environment was way ahead of the times he lived in. A historian, scholar and a credit to his nation.I highly recommend David McCullough's"Mornings on Horseback" or Edmund Morris's excellent trilogy on TR's life.

The national parks system is a monumental blessing and, I believe, the US' greatest treasure. My gratitude to John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt is Immeasurable. This video brought a patriotic tear to my eye.

There's a lot to cover about Teddy Roosevelt, but my favorite thing was how he challenged monopolies and took on major corporations of that time. Insane.
