In this DIY video, I’ll show you how to build a miter saw station. This simple miter station is made of 2x4s, has an integrated drill press, a space saving extension wing, and T-tracks for a stop block on either side of the miter saw. It’s modular build allows you to customize it to your space.

5/8/2019 USA Grandpa Bill: DIY Montreal, This will be unusual. I'm 71 and if you were my daughter or granddaughter I would feel so proud. This is a heart thing. I look at you and my heart just kind of swells up in a glow. This is really unusual for me. Your attention to detail and ability to communicate clearly with precision in a voice of caring humility combined with your selections of applications is comforting. I really like this modular table set-up. Furthermore, I really like your little garage. It is a great way to start. You are a living demonstration of starting in a one-room shack and growing into a castle. I can see it coming. You have all the qualities of success. Thank you for posting, and I wish you the best results from YouTube.

Just stumbled upon your videos. Was amazed how you were able to drill all those holes for your pull-out extension support with a Forstner bit freehand and keep all of the holes level and parallel. I couldn't do that - And you had a drill press readily available but didnt use it!

Bought the plans this morning and will build a modified version of this station. My shop is being setup in a barn with very un-level floor so I’ll use 4x4 posts to support the saw and use leveling feet. The rest will be built using the wood from my existing station which is screwed together. But the new version of my station will use the footprint of the current and look a lot like yours and be based on your plans. Thank you.

After looking at several DIY miter saw stations on You Tube, your plans looked to be the simplest and flexible design. I purchased the plans a week ago and began building. I had to make a couple adjustments to the plan - I own a Dewalt 12 inch sliding compound miter saw. Since the dust port hangs out quite a bit, I had to increase the depth of the work surface to 36 inches.
I cut all the wood and realized the work surface was going to be fairly short and being 6 foot tall, I will need to re-cut longer legs - A dumb mistake I should have thought of before cutting. Anyway, I am excited about finishing this project and adding drawers, and other accessories. I saw your other videos about the drawers and doors. Thanks!

I saw this mitre station video and liked the simplicity of not having the side guides that would take up the counter top space. Then, I watched a gentleman from England explain why you might NOT want those side wings/guides. If an eight foot long piece of stock were even slightly warped, the side guide would keep it from being flush on the saw table where it must be in order to get a proper cut. Not having those side guides permits the longer, possibly slightly curved piece to be cut using the in-top stop as you’ve used here. I didn’t want to lose the counter top functionality and your system solves that. Even with removable wings, your system is more functional and equally as accurate. Great job. I also thought a tape track could be routed out just in front of the track and inset. As you have it, it’s very useful.

I used same tip from Jay bates and also put a locking washing and nut on carriage bolt to ensure it wouldn't raise or lower over time from vibrations . Like the ext. Wings adding tht to mine

I’ve watched what feels like 100 miter saw station builds from basic frames to full on cabinets and this is easily my favorite. Your added drawers on another video sealed the deal. I plan on building a similar setup. Nicely done and great editing too!

This will be my first build in my workshop as I plan my retirement for December 31st. I will add an additional 2 ft extension to the left of the drill press for my benchtop band saw. Thanks!

Great video. Someone who finally shows how to measure the depth of the miter saw base and install it. Loved the clamps to place the base onto for easier install. Can’t wait to see how this miter station evolves. Looking forward to how you implement dust collection.

This is actually one of my favorite miter station builds. I really like the approach and procedures you followed. Works well.

I'm new to wood working and this is exactly what I've been looking for. So many others on this format are so over done and beyond me at this time, but this, this is perfect.... Thank you!!

Hi Marie, great job. Top tip for you. When drilling the holes for the rods, if you hadn't got the right sized Forstner you could take an oversized flat spade bit and grind the edges down evenly until you get the diameter that you want. I did this when fitting tubes into 2 x 4 to make a timber rack. I think Jay Bates did the same, although I'd seen it elsewhere as well.

I know I'm 3 years late in posting, but I'm just starting my small wood shop at age 61 and after looking at all kinds of videos on this subject, this is exactly what I need to do to start. I will follow more of your videos, and yes I did subscribe, so thanks for posting this video ! Cheers from an old guy in Utah... ;-)

Love your builds. Add a nut and a lock washer to the carriage bolt before threading them on the legs. then when legs are leveled you can lock them from turning due to tool vibration.

I like the contrast of the Walnut against the light table bed . Small and subtle .

I'm still a beginner at woodworking, and my fiancee and I are in the process of purchasing our first home. I foresee a lot of DIY projects that I'll be doing in the future though, so I've been browsing plans to turn the garage into a workshop, one of the most intimidating of which is the miter station.

I've been looking up a lot of different plans for this, and I think this one is definitely my favorite. Simple, efficient, has everything I need to get the job done, and easy to build on as my I become more experienced and skilled at woodworking.

Great design and simple, quick, and cheap to build. I started on mine this past weekend. Skipped the drill press section and added a couple shelves below. 8' to the left of the miter saw, 3' to the right. Space for the shop vac and dustright separator under the saw and section to the right.

Thank you for the plans! I made some changes to add an interchangeable miter / router table.
I took the router section, added supports front and back, added rails at specific heights and was able to either slide in the chopsaw or the router table.
