I think most average users who are still on Windows 10 won't bother to upgrade or pay the $30. They will just run their PC's unpatched until it dies and then they will buy a new one.

1:51 people may hate change, but the resistance to changing from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is unprecedented. Like you said, we're 3.5 years into Windows 11, but Windows 10 has had two quarters of gaining market share within the past year.

Microsoft isn't learning from this either, instead of giving people choices, having the consumer in mind, and adapting to the reality of what the people want, Microsoft is trying to force what they want onto everyone else, and it's willing to create massive security and operational sacrifices in order to do so.

Windows 10 is the end of my Microsoft journey. It's a shame too. I've been using Windows since version 3.1. I'm not downgrading to Windows 11. I don't want 1) Copilot 2) Onedrive 3) Recall 4) Edge 5) Bitlocker, or 6) a Microsoft account. Microsoft has gone insane. This is my computer--not theirs. I've already switched to Linux. Very happy on Mint, MX, and Endeavour.

I do not remember the numbers, but similar things happened with Windows XP and Windows 7.

win 10 it just works so smooth and flawlessly, win11 is a headache with all the bugs. I went back to win10, and yes I do have a compatible system.

I plan on continuing using Windows 10. I may get the extra years of updates.

I would switch my old, unsupported machine to Windows 11 under their "don't ask, don't tell" policy but I am afraid at some point they won't allow them to run anymore

This may force ms to extend support for Windows 10 like they did 13 years ago with xp lol

After 4 months of Windows 11 (enforced as my previous 15 year old Windows 7 computer died), the one thing that stands out is continually finding sliders that I have to turn off to stop Microsoft either overtly invading my privacy or putting up annoying messages all the time. Just as soon as I think I have them all turned off, something else comes up. it's like Whack A Mole. The other serious issue I have noticed is the right click context menu caused Explorer to freeze - it seems to be caused when a number of very large files with very long file names are sequentially right-clicked. I had to go back to the old classic context menu to resolve that since I already had the latest Windows 11 updates (and the classic context menu stopped the freezes). As for OneDrive, I appear to have managed to escape that. But I had been happy with Windows 7. There is nothing I do on this new computer that could not have been done under Windows 7.

For me, Windows 10 was the perfect 10, its sad to see it end. I'm giving up on Windows altogether.

Or just use 0patch instead and have security patches for many years.

in actual fact, you can continue to use even though the support ends, there won't be any problem.

If you are a gamer eventually you will have to update to 11 to keep Steam and other apps working. Drivers will stop being updated for newer games. You can get hacked drivers but how good are they?

At $30/year I wonder how much MS net earnings would work out to - And then there are the untold number of businesses would aff to that for some time?

Some people may have a WIndows 10 PC that works well and don't want to upgrade to Windows 11 or buy a new one. There is no indication that a Windows 12 will come out in 2025 and right know it looks unlikely. Back then, people continued to use Windows XP until support ended meaning they didn't upgrade to Windows 7 until 2014 or 2015.

Remember, if you're talking about Windows 10 still active in 2025, as long you're not using Home, Pro or Education versions or else there will be consequences.
