A 14-year-old visiting from out of state has died after he fell from a free-fall thrill ride at Orlando's ICON Park, the Orange County Sheriff's Office reports.

“Our prayers and our thoughts are with the family and we can’t imagine what they’re going through," Sheriff John Mina said during a press conference Friday.

Due to the fact that the teen was a 14 year old large high school football player, I'm wondering if his size and weight had anything to do with the harness not fully snapping into place.

I still remember when I was 8 years old or less and I was riding in a roller-coaster with my older sister. She was 5 years old. She was sitting I would say it seemed in the inside of the cart bench. I was on the outside which was open except that we had a metal guard rail secured in front of us. The whole time on the ride I could feel the force trying to pull me out of the cart as the roller coaster was going. I remember holding on as hard as I could so that I would not be pulled out by the force. I was crying the whole time and I don't think anyone ever knew the danger I was in. I felt I was being pulled out. It was real. It wasn't just fear-based. The roller-coaster was not that big or treacherous as others but it still was a real roller-coaster. I still remember it. Being a small kid your not that secure in most rides. Not as secure as bigger kids or teenagers.
