I think you explained the reason a bit confusing. The volume decreased because a liquid has a higher density than a gas which is why when it dissolved its volume decreased. The matter stayed the same.

So if you got the water extremely cold and introduced co2 could you super saturate the water with co2?

So if we trap under water. Splashing water can reduce carbon dioxide in the air

Gota get yourself a 5lb tank and connection to your machine. Co2 will cost WAY less.

So that would also prove there is a bunch of empty space between water molecules that got filled by the CO2. If there wasnt empty space, the bottle would not have collapsed
